I was lightening my heavy hitters last night from my 62.5 grams (that I use for 3-6,000 feet) to something lighter to use for the McCall Idaho area. I'm not sure of the elevations encountered there but I'd guess 6-8,000 feet. I took a guess and lightened them to 57 grams. I used the 1" allen in the heel. A 3/8" steel with a steel washer in the mid, a 3/8 aluminum with an aluminum washer in the tip. I'm using the stock O/S/O primary too. In the secondary I'm at 80 degrees with the Yamaha silver spring and a Dalton 54/42 helix. Any suggestions? PB

Powder Blue,

How do you like the HH's compared to everything else you
have tried. I have the Daltons and think i going to change to
something else.

stock 151" track
dalton 54/42 progressive helix
silver spring wrap 80
4200 rpm in - straight to 10,200 or so
top end 135 - 140 klm on trail but maybe on hard pack road 150
this is with reverse & 39 - 23 gearing

I think it should be better that this any comments ???

I feel almost like I'm betraying Dale in saying that I much prefer the Heavy Hitters to the Daltons. Here's an example. We have a grudge settling area in the mountains where I ride most of the time. It's a grass air strip at about 3,300 feet.
I tried the Dalton 57.5 weights and pulled a 86 mph top end on my RX-1M. The I put in the 8DN-00 weight and pulled an almost identical speed.
I put in the Heavy Hitters and guess what? The very next run I pulled 102 mph indicated. Then I added the 1/4" to the heel with the 3/4" allen and got 106 mph and the airstrip was very bumpy.
In climbing I'm clueless. I tried them once weighted to 62.5 grams and only pulled 9,600 RPM. There was a heavy crust about 8" under the fluff though so I'm not sure it was an accurate test of their capabilities. I guess I'll find out this weekend. Thanks for asking. PB
