Wife wants a new sled this year and is deciding between the MXZ and an 10 Vector. She's leaning towards the Vector but my main concern is steering effort. She is not a speed demon so the skis pressure can be light. What do you guys think? She had an 06 Nytro and hated how hard it was to steer. I am thinking the DBII may have fixed some of that issue.

Well, I bought my '10 Vector LTX-GT to be a shared sled between my wife & I. When she's with me or a group of us, she gets the Vector & I get the Apex.
She is 5' 1" 115 lbs, and she loves riding it. She came off a 'Cat Z440 (featherweight fan) and she says the Vector is as easy, or easier than the Z440 was. She has put in quite a few 100 milers & I never hear her complain during the ride, after, or the next day about being sore. The only thing she ever says is the first couple rides of the season, her throttle thumb gets a little fatigued.
Alot will have to do with the setup. To blow my own horn here, may I suggest my Vector/Apex setup?
I, as others on here who have used it will attest to you how well & easy the sled will handle with my setup. Either do a search, or I can PM it to you if you get the Vector.
Furthermore, I see you're in the Madison area, I'm just south of Verona, I'd be more than happy to help you set it up in person too.
I have ridden two different REV chassis sleds & hated them both. One was an '06 GSX & the other was an '08 TNT. Sure they were light, but they handled like a bag of $hit!! I'm pretty sure the owner didn't have them setup correct, but they were terrible to turn in sharp corners. You had to slow down to a crawl to keep enough ski pressure, otherwise they both pushed so bad you were in the rhubarb by the time you exited the corner with any speed. Aweful handling, just aweful. A constant battle to keep 'em pointed where you wanted them to go, and that's the LAST thing a lesser experienced rider needs. Especially a woman. If she doesn't feel confident on the sled, it's gonna be a long winter for her & YOU.

Go with the LTX, if you can, Its a nice package. " Catman" has the setup that works.
Not to take anything away from the Doo , but even Doo riders know the the Yamaha will outlast it many times over.

I use theCATman setup
The sled handles great, no heavy steering at all. I came from a Polaris XC600 and a 600 touring. The Vector is more fun to ride than both of those, even though it's heavier. I have the LTX, and love it.

I put the Snotrackers on Rs Gt and its lighter to steer now , despite the aggressive look they have , they made my sled handle perfect

Umm.... we are only about 1 1/2 hrs from each other, but I'm not making the drive. Look up my setup, & you'll be happy.

The one problem I see with the '12s is, Yamaha went 'el cheapo on the front shocks, so dialing in the front end might prove to be a little harder. Gone is the ability to adjust compression & rebound. I know the reserviors are gone, so I'm guessing there are no clickers on the front shocks anymore?? That's BS!! The Vector is supposed to be a premium trail cruiser & Yamaha drops their premium shocks as standard equipment??
Setting the pre-load is important though, so that will still be the same. I just hope the shocks are dampened at a happy-medium, and not some BS rock hard or mush soft settings. Keeping the front-end settled & flat is 90% of the battle.

I thought in a couple years I might upgrade to an EPS Vector but seeing the way they are going, I think I will be keeping my 08 with GTYR's a little longer.

Just put your GYTRs on the new vector and you will have the best of both worlds, tunable shocks and EPS.

I don't think it would be an easy sell, with shocks that didn't come with my 08?
Good idea though but it would take someone who didn't know any better to buy it.
Would the shocks even be transferable?

I would imagine they can be transferred, simple swap but never heard off any one doing this. Classifieds and you can find another set for a good price.
