Heel Clicker vs Heavy Hitter

Ummmmm, I had the Heel clickers for about 800 miles last year and installed it when I got The ECP kit. I called Mike Bender a few times because I know absolutely nothing about clutching. Some guys on here last year with ECP kits were hitting around 10,200 to 10,700 and no matter what Bender told me to do I couldnt get my sled to rev any higher that 10,000, maybe 10,100. This year as many of youse know Freddie is doing top end work to my sled and this time I contacted Matt BBY (Speedshop). I will stress again that clutching is a foreign language to me so I made Matt Call Freddie so Matt could custom design a clutch to go with the upgrades Freddie is doing. All I had to do is send Matt the cash. So the reason I switched is because Matt is super good with clutching and I suck at it. I have a ton of respect and confidence In both Matt and Freddie and I know all I will have to do is start that bad boy up and ride.
So I got some Heelclickers that came out of my sled if anyone wants them. There is nothing wrong with them, I just didnt know how to use or adjust them. However some guy that goes to my dealer did have a Heelclicker blow up on him last year. But mine worked OK last year............Cubby

It just burns my a@# to pay out big money for something the RX1 dosent even need to smoke other sleds anyways

LB if the kit was yamaha dealer installed does that affect the warranty , if it takes out yer sled when she blows.

The Yamaha dealer is an independent company authorized by Yamaha for selling and repair work. They do NOT make decisions for Yamaha, and WILL void the warranty if you ask them to. Unless you get an agreement with THAT DEALER about the foreign parts, then you have no warranty protection on the other parts of the sled that could be damaged. If you do get an agreement with the dealer, then it is with that specific dealer and not with Yamaha.

That being said, if you put a clutch kit on your sled and then your battery melts (which is obviously unrelated), then the battery is still covered by warranty REGARDLESS of who installed the clutch kit.

ALSO; despite what manufacturers would have you to believe... you CAN disassemble and perform your own repairs WITHOUT voiding the warranty.. it only voids the warranty if you did something wrong (ie not to manufacturer's specifications).

Now as for blowing away other sleds.... that all depends... on what other sled you're trying to blow away, and the conditions you're trying to do it in. I own two sleds; an RX1 and an Exciter (original 87 low approach rails, all stock except for some weight loss, plastic skis, track, and clutch *adjustments*). Comparing the Exciter to a fully STOCK RX1 (not mine, its got some fun stuff), in 1/4 mile, RX1 every time. In 250 feet though, a stock RX1 can get severely embarassed - the Exciter has a better power to weight ratio and a MUCH better power and weight to traction ratio. Since putting on the long track (which, btw, required some MAJOR primary clutch weight recallibrations), the RX1 now has advantage at any distance.

Ir-regardless of how they work, given my past experience dealing with Randy at Super Torquer testing the TRA Heel Clickers is enough for me to walk away.

Wont stand up for his product, or their setups. All I heard was "the next design we are tesing will be awesome". Swear they didnt make 2 kits the same. Every time I called, it was a tip to buy another spring, helix, etc.. till ya got it right.

Needless to say, rumr has it they moved out of Michigan to avaid paying back oMwed taxes on the buissnes.

shaf,
If you live in xmas, you must know Doc and the boys. I bought Doc's wife's 03, and came to the same conclusion. Bone stock, except for studs. The stock clutch is great.

Ed the mechanic at Xmas sports is proud of me for going back to stock.

I had a jackshaft bearing go out on a Viper, and the clickers destroyed the sheaves on both clutches.

every one has their opinions but i have atleast 24000 miles between all the different sleds ive had them on over the years since theyve been out and have had zero problems with them and on my current set i just replaced the bushings. the performance is very good and ive got the engagement to a very reasonable level. just my 2 cents

What about HC 2 speed kits?????????were they not called Hammertimes???? Anyone use them at all???

Great folks at Christmas Yamaha, some are waiting on the white gold here, me i am not waiting i will be heading west.

I got a quote from the Texas coyote one day similar to riding a sled ,we can throw a million bucks at a car and make it handle and run like a scalded dog ,but if the driver can not drive the car it is wasted time and money,.

FYI we think sled parts are high aeh? we get 128.000$ u.s. for one of our 3.0 litre engines and no its not stock.

There seems to be a lot of those exploding... way more than the regular HC's. Judging by the posts on here, they seem to last between 40 and 150 miles before they explode. This year their ads claim 5x stronger, so they are clearly aware that a lot of people know about the unreliability of those weights. Only time will tell if they are actually any better than before.

"What about HC 2 speed kits?????????were they not called Hammertimes???? Anyone use them at all???"

I was told by the rep from HC, at the Toronto snowmobile show that they are all billet now and they supply all the Bender Turbo set ups.

How about it Bender Turbo guys................ are these clutch kits supplyied by Bender for your Turbos? If so, how are they holding up?

It still makes me wonder why anyone buys this bolt on stuff, I thought thats why we rode a yamaha to get away from the Black Tragic kind of BS.

Im takin it all off and going stock, screw all the foo foo, morgan wannabe crap.

And the worst thing of it all is, it voids your WARRANTY

The reason we install all this stuff is to make it better than the next guys.. Faster/quicker/betterhandling.. although Yamaha sleds have the best quality.. they dont spend enought seat time on them to know what really works!!

Sorry Welter, but they sell them EXACTLY the way they want them to work....not the way they they can 'really work'.
I also disagree with you about seat time. Name one other sled introduced at the same time the RX's were introduced that have had less problems than the RX...... Rev (how many re-rings and SDI reprogams???), F cats (where does this list start???)

There's a crew right now in Alaska dialing in the 06's. They will be there for over 3 weeks. What a job..............

Great pics Dano ,Thanks

This was enough for me, HC is history in my garage.

MW they will be in Cooke City ,MT Dec 12

Thanks TY :rocks:
