Just want to say hello as a new member to the site, and a proud new owner of my first 4 stroke snowmobile. After blowing up my 2003 Prox 440, I decided to take a chance with a 4 stroke and I bought a 07' Phazer GT. I wanted the RTX but all they had was the brown left, besides the deal for the GT, was something I could not pass up. I am looking to do some major up grades to the suspension for starters. I would like to get new rear shocks asap something rebuildable, I don't need the the clicker set up, (I never found my-self screwing with them on my 440). If anyone has some opinions please share.

I know my sled has not had some of the updates, (dealer won't do them until there is a problem) with 10" of new snow falling today, it could be the night that I will need a new rear link.
How is everyone getting there updates done?
Blocking off the tunnel? yes/no?????

I have read hours and hours of posts on the subject, I just don't know what to do.
Thanks all

I also have Custom Axis, all around. $3250 for all 4 shocks. I would not buy them again because you have to remove them and use a spring compressor to change spring length(preload) because it is held with a retaining ring, kinda like a snap ring.

Buy Ohlins, they have threaded adjusters.

Sticker shock! wow, What about the stock 08' RTX shocks and good? dealers talk the hell out of them as they are the next best thing to slice bread. I was kind on thinking I would find a set used on ebay by next season. Bound to be a couple smashed up ones sooner then later.

jafgreen,

I debated covering my tunnel, but finally caved and did it. After one long ride the opening in the tunnel was completely blocked with ice. I thought that is the same as blocking it off with some aluminum and decided to bite the bullet.

I also put some aluminum tape on the inside of my plastics to protect from melting, because I thought it couldn't hurt and it was cheap to do.

After a 100 mile ride I had almost no ice in the tunnel.

I did not block off the front opening, but I am considering it.

I could of got the plastic pannels from yamaha, but I like the look of it being open.

Good luck.

Went on a short ride after work this evening, on the new sled. I really like the way it rides, great sitting position. Completely different from the 2 strokes I have come use to. I didn't break my link though and I was kind of wanting to, so the dealer would take care of it now.

Took a couple of jumps on it, found the balance to be quite on, I was a little shocked to find it handles in the air very similar to my Proxr 440.
Shocks need some major work, and ended up taking the sway bar off, much better with out it. All in all Loved it

Did you do both front and rears? what kind of pricing? Have you busted you link?

Fronts are GYTR.Center is stock.Only rear skid shock is Custom Axis.$400 its all I needed.Bolted it on and was amazed at difference. As far as I know nobody else can run thier torsion springs on soft and still not bottom out.I bought the shock BECAUSE I broke my link last season.Welded link and it has lasted up to this point.I credit that shock for that also.Ohlins is good stuff also.I run them on my SRX and quads.Big reason I chose the Custom Axis is thier customer service.Guy who built my shock owned a Phazer and I spoke directly to him. Will be buying more from them in future.

If you can afford it get the RTX fox shoks they are simply amazing, I rode an 07 than I rode the RTX I bought and this thing is amazing in the rough ditches and these shoks are very tunable. They give you a plush ride with no chance of bottoming on huge jumps.
