So my wife and I each have our own sleds. We have had chatterbox frs multisports now since 2007. They were great the first couple seasons. I recently bought new rechargeable batteries and headsets and they are just terrible, worn out & cheaply made. They get used a week a year and are always put away inside and taken care of. Before them we tried Collets and had issues too, sent them back. I also tried 2 way radios with headsets and those were totally useless for us. So we need something new. I am looking at Sena and Scala rider kits. Any opinions on these?

We like to listen to music when we ride so MP3 or Bluetooth hookup is a must. Just not sure the range of these units is great.

I know chatterbox X1 is the best of both worlds and very costly!! having a built in radio but with all the stupid issues we had with ours year 3 I don't want to give them anymore money.

I have the Cardo Scala Pro Teamset, for motorcycles. They work pretty well in the cold but, the range is significantly decreased compared to summer. Summer time is 1/2 mile line of sight, winter is more like 1/4 at best and if someone's a throttle jockey like my riding partner then you have to re-link them when close enough.

Cardo does however make a set specifically for snowmobiling that has better range than my Scala set and larger buttons for thicker gloves.

We have the Chatterbox X1's now for 3 years and love them. Our neighbors got them as well and love them.
No issues. Which Chatterbox's did you get? You need to get the Slim X1's or the older X1's.. I even dropped one in the water and it took a while to dry but it has worked fine now for 2 seasons since.

I have the FRS multisports, great the first couple years...used about 500-1000 miles a year then they turned to crap. They were about $160 each at the time. I just got new batteries, headsets and ptt buttons. 1 works the other 2 are crap. Yes we have a 3rd as a back up. So I WILL NOT GIVE CRAPPERBOX anymore of my money. There are others out there just hard to find reviews on them on sleds

Sena, Cardo, Midland, and uclear are pretty much my choices. It is very hard to find reviews on this stuff from sledders.

Like I said you bought cheap ones so what do you expect? The X1's are twice as much and more.

I have the Cardo Sledding ones from this year and they work great. The bluetooth option for the phone is amaizing especially with a smart phone.

using a scala set right now that I got for Christmas. the blue tooth and radio work great on them. only problems I am having is staying linked to the other rider at higher speeds and the voice commands glitching when I cough in my helmet. voice glitch only happens if the mike is below my nose but it will not work if it is above.

My Chatterbox X1's have been excellant again like I said above. Simple to use and long range. Clear and loud. Also the accessories are reasonable and many choices.
They have the Slim X1 now that is even smaller but has the same functions and range as the X1.
A moderator here recommend them a few years back as he had tried various others and found the X1 to be the best. I'm glad I listened to him.

I expected my Multisports to last longer than 2,000 miles worth of riding. They are always stored properly and always indoors. I spend over $100 on new headsets and batterys and Ptt this season to have 1 headset inop out of the box and the other has no audio in the left speaker. I have heard the x1's are great by others too but after calling chatterbox yesterday about some of my concerns I do not feel comfortable doing business with them. They used to offer a few options now it is X1 slim or nothing. Seems they are having some trouble.

I've been using the Sena smh10 for motorcycle and snowmobile and so far they have worked great.
