Helmet Purchase?

Alot of guys have looked at these. These are the same manufacturer who OEM's the new lids for Bombardier. I was talking to the Doo dealer at the show this weekend and he had said that they got a bad review last season while testing because of snow dust entering the slot that controls the sun-shield.

I was VERY close to ordering one...but because this will be the first year...I'm gonna wait for the reviews to come back before I order one.

ur link is bad, but i went to their site. are you talking the open face motocross style ones.

those are great with a good set of goggles. i've found them better then regular double lens helmets and even heated helmets.

i've never had issues with my goggle/helmet combo. even riding in -35 weather in tugg hill i was the only one who could see, even my buddy with his heated couldnt. frosted over.

FYI - Not sure if the dealer you talked to was confused but I have looked at these helmets closely and there is no slot controlling the sunshield like the original ski-doo modular has (maybe he was referring to that helmet - Scorpion doesn't make the original modular or maybe Scorpion fixed it before production???). The Scorpion helmet actually has a very sweet idea for controlling the sunshield and that is that it uses a magnet between each side of the shield to move the sunshield up and down. The outside edge of the shield is gated to hold the sunshield in place.

A great BRP Mod alternative - they'll sell a ton of them, I'm sure.

Thanks Kevin. Good to know....it seems the Doo dealers don't have as much confidence in their own products because the guy I spoke to said he wasn't going to carry them.

Scorpion Snow Helmet

I don't own a Scorpion helmet-yet! But let me chime in, they have a patented NO-FOG shield, which at least on their cycle helmets works great-from what I've seen.

These helmets have a removable/replaceable interior with several pattern choices.

And for the $179 price (with Graphics, not just a solid color helmet), it's a great buy IMHO.

I like how Ski Doo (Bombardier) seems to tout these as "their" helmets.

I like the sun shield idea alot, wish it could be used for motorcycle riding as well, but theshield design blocks off the vents above the eye opening.

For anyone that has any questions on the Scorpion helmets, contact them-I have and they are willing to answer any questions!

** I don't have any connection with Scorpion Helmets, just like their product!!**

I hear ya...I had one sized and ready to order until I heard rumblings that it might not be perfected yet. I don't like to be a guinea pig....especially for helmets because it gets pretty cold up here!

Ahhhh.... F&^K IT....I'll just take the plunge and see how they are for myself. ;)!

Scorpion Helmet-forgot to mention

Forgot to mention in my previous post that the Scorpion helmets have a removable, WASHABLE liner!!!

Not many helmets in their price range offer that feature.

Just ordered my Scorpion EXO400 (Matte Black). Should see it in a week or so. ;)!

Just a heads up from Scorpion....they also have a EXO700 which is a Carbon Fibre hand laid shell. The difference between the 2 is the 700 weighs about 4oz. less but it's also $69 more. It also has MORE vents.
Keep in mind...in the "Snow Version" for both the 400 and 700 the VENTS come plugged anyways so that's a non-issue.

Other than that...they are essentially the same helmets. I figure as a snow helmet why would I need MORE vents? I was ready to order the 700 then after talking to the company and getting more details I changed my mind and ordered the 400.

Paid $227 USD shipped which is a great deal in my book!!

Interesting I emailed these guys asking a few questions, like how can I make the purchase being that I'm in Canada..... I never head back from them :( did you call them direct. I really want one of these helmets :)

Hey Rxwonder; is it safe to assume you ordered the Electric shield model? I see there is a significant increase for the electric shield? If they have a patented no fog lense why did you order the electric? I'm just curious because I think I am going to pick one up myself, they look really nice! I was wondering if they they have the led light on the back, I didn't see it listed a s a feature on their website?

Yeah...I called them direct. I also never ship anything coming from the US to Canada. I have a US address that I use for shipping and that saves on customs and duty stuff.

Yup...ordered the electric shield. I don't believe anyone who tells me that they have a "No Fog" shield. My HJC CL-12 said it was a "no fog" helmet as well. That "No Fog" stuff is probably meant for motorcycles in warmer weather. In extreme cold weather, I have had trouble keeping electric shields defogged.

Last season, I had a BV2S and was riding in -32C weather with one eye.....I wish I had electric that night. :brrr:

LED? Nope...no LED on the back like the BV2S.

Give Scorpion a call direct. Great to deal with and they answered all my questions. Ask for Mike Talarico. He helped me out alot.
