I need some help. I have a 2000 Yamaha Kodiak that was idling very poorly. I tried to adjust the air adjustment screw/throttle screw, but it just wouldn't budge. Apparently, I tried too hard, because it broke off in the middle.
My questions are:
Do I have to remove the carburetor to replace the adjustment screw or is there any way I can do it without taking the whole quad apart?
I'm just not looking forward to removing the gas tank, etc. Thanks in advance.

sry dude best way is to remove the carb. so that means you gotta strip it down enough to get the carb out.

Yeah, the more I looked at it, the more I realized that would be the only way. I've never taken a quad apart that far. Any tips I should know about? Also, should I replace the spring that is attached to the carb at the place where the throttle screw attaches? It looks to be fine, but is it standard to replace both, or can I get away with just the screw? Thanks.

probably can get away with just doing the screw. just make shure when you put it back together that all the carb boot clamps are tight. its not fun finding this in the dark with no flashlight. why i bought my own bike.

Did you bust the air screw or the Idle adjust screw. The idle adjust screw has a remote extention added to it. (wire cable with phillupshead on it.) I busted that cable on my Kodiak and just used pliers to turn the cable, worked great.
