Check the RS section. Someone with a Vector was putting on a Nytro seat and had to trim about 3" off the tank cover.

Here's all you need to do:
1. Remove the old seat.
2. Take a permament marker (sharpie) and trace the bottom edge of the tank cover, onto the gas tank.
3. Remove the tank cover.
4. Install the Apex/Nytro seat onto your tunnel, and fasten it securely using the two rear bolts.
5. Trace the top, front edge of the seat, onto the gas tank.
6. Remove the seat. You will be able to see the formed shape-lines of the tank and how they're identically located on the inside of the cover.
7. Using these lines as a reference, measure the distance from the bottom line to the top line along each one. Also measure the center. Transfer these measurements to the same points on the inside of the cover using the bottom edge as the starting point. You should end up with close to 3-1/2" of cut-out at the center tapering to a point at each side.
8. Place masking tape over the painted side and use a razor blade, carpet knife, small cut-off wheel, saber saw, etc... to cut the cover. MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE. TAKE THE LEAST AMOUNT OF MATERIAL AT A TIME, TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THE WIDTH OF THE MARKER TIP MAY OFFSET THE MEASUREMENT A BIT.
9. Test fit.
10. Sand the bottom edge round so as to not cut the seat material over use.
I still have the remnant and if/when I have time I could make a template. PM me or DaJudge - if you need more help.

Where did you get your seat and how much did you pay? If you wwent with Nytro bars and riser, why not a Nytro seat?

I threw away the piece I cut off on mine but I ended up at 3&9/16" from the back of the tank hole with rubber removed.Just hook tape in the hole and measure down 3 9/16 will be where you cut the top at.Watch out for the fuel tank its very close to tank cover,I recomend removing it to cut on it (gas tanks cant be cheap)
On the bottom I ended the taper at the point.Kind of hard to explain but follow the bottom of the tank cover to where it radiuses down then it has a kind of point.Youll probaply understand when you look at it.
I did the same as 4fighter just put seat on and mark the out line .I used masking tape.Just remeber once the tank cover is cut the seat will sit lower than it did when you marked it.
Also for any one else interested in a seat swap it looks like the nitro seat is the only seat that has the correct ends to work on our RX,s ,The other seats fit but will have to have wiring swapped out or changed.
One more thing the nytro and apex mountain seat have a firmer foam than apex 121" and attack,so depending on your tastes you know what kind of seat to look for.

thanks steve and dajudge, you guys are a great help.i got mine off feetsbig.it is a apex mountain seat. he had to use his wiring anywayfor his new mountain mod seat. The seat was in canada and could be bussed to me,i hope the freight isnt to expensive. i am sure it wouldnt be to cheap to ship out of the u.s.. beggers cant be chosers. steve does the rx get to heavy in the nose while riding or do you not have to sit any closer to the front while normaly riding?

You dont have to sit closer to the front, even with my bars moved forward I can still sit to back of seat.As far as nose heavy, skis dangling in the air is only a swat of the throttle away.
My seat came from canada as well(BC Canada)it was 55.00 canadian for shipping. If he hasnt sent your seat out yet ask him to protect it well as they take quite a bit of abuse in shipping.Mine was shoved through bottom of box and it cut the cover on the bottom about three inches on both sides.Lukily the cover is fairly loose and I was able to pull the cuts under the seat and cant even tell now.
