Guys I could use your help. I finally got around to installing a new Camo Extreme 162 x 16 x 2.5" track on my RX-1M. I plan to port the track in the very near future. I have a couple of ideas for porting this track and wanted to get the opinions of some of you who may have done it already.

I have ported a 151 finger track with three 1 1/8" holes in the center belt (for a total of three holes), I also ported a Skidoo Powder Max 159 with three 1 1/8" in the center and a 3/4" in each outer belt for a total of five per row. That seems like too much for me now. I also don't want the rubber idler on the rear axle going through the holes I drill this time around either.

So here's what I am thinking; I can either go with one larger 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" Hole in the center of the center belt where the idler miss it completely or go with two smaller ones sufficiently inboard enough to miss the idler wheels. This would allow me two 1" to 1 1/8" holes but they would only have 1 inch between them. I also MAY consider adding a couple of 3/4" holes to the outer belts on both sides if you guys think it makes sense. Any direction you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

I would go with the two down the center. Less time than three and you can cut just as much raw material away as with three if you go bigger holes. I just did my new extreme and it turned out great. I used a 1 5/8" holesaw on mine. Wouldn't recommend doing the outer ones. Leave the meat for strength! The two down the center miss the wheels to if you go inward a little bit! Good luck.

Aaron! Wow, it's nice to see you on here again. I guess you kept your RX-1M? I thought you were still riding the M7?

Hey, thanks for the advice. Yes, I am leaning toward two down the center but to miss the idler travel slots between the rubber nubs on the inside of the track it sure makes the two holes close together.

I really interested in porting to make the track more flexible.

Also, I see with the stock chain case and Wahl brothers drivers I only have roughly 3/16" (maybe less) between the top of the tunnel and the track as it goes around the top of the driver. Man that's close! Spooky close!

Thanks for the help Aaron. Welcome back.

I'm gonna start looking for a Yamaha again to turbo! That's my next project. I've done as much as I can to the cat. I'll be popping on here every now and then to stay in the loop. Thanks!

Aaron, as much as I like my RX-1 I think you'd probably be better off with a Nytro or an Apex as a minimum. The 12 hp difference (138 vs. 150)between the two isn't that big of a deal it's the weight difference that I would think is really important. Then again, the deals on used Apexes are amazing. You're always welcome back in the Yamaha camp.

Take care
