Yikes! You're right I did!
I'll try to keep myself a little more focused in the future.
Snowfever, I just came in from crawling under my sled. Yes, the bolt head on the back side of the chain case looks like it should be hacked off even with the end of the nutsert. It would take about 3/8" off the threads and should remove it from the 16" track danger zone.
The area where I see trouble is above the the small idlers just above the front of the rear suspension spring. Actually it's the brackets for the small idlers that the track would be hitting. I already have a fix in mind though. Larger idlers! If the idlers were about an 2" larger in diameter it would move the track up about 1" and put it in an area where it would not rub. Other than that it looks like there is sufficient clearance for a 16" track. Once again, sorry for mislabeling the author of such fine work. PB

I can beat you to the top by sheer momentum! Short track go fastly.

LB, my young friend, momentum may work in a text book, but in real life track length means a lot!!

Will two kids stop your bickering
There will be no contest on the trails or on the hills (unless the snow is rock hard).
What were we talking about again? Tracks, that's right. It will take some work (not much but a little extra) to make the 16" fit. Is it worth it? PB

Go with the 16X159. That will ROCK!! Plus the tunnel extension is much better with that kick up instead of the lame straight out OEM one.

Who's tunnel extension is the nicest? There's a Moutain Performance, the Hartman, the Holtz, the other one from Canada too. What is that name? Hum? I'm having a senior moment here..........help.

I have the Hartman which I think is actually a Holz. (not sure about that). I am not all that impressed with the fit and durability, but setting on there it does look good. Mine has a little bit of looseness one one side that I can't seem to find. I think it is much more functional than the stock one with that nice little kick up.
The one from MPI looks good and they have a history of good quality. I don't like their more square shaped bumper all that much though.

What was the Canadian company that was hooked up with Mountain Perfomance. I think they became one last season if I remember correctly. That's the name I am thinking of. ECKHOLM! That's it! Do they make one too or is it the same one Mountain Performance offers? Chowder Blue
PB I think Mtn. Perf and Ekholm are the same. I didn't care for the square bumper till I needed it... Much easier to hold with gloves on 8) Fit n finish is great on the Mtn Performance extension, and I had a 180lb guy jumpipng on it before I installed the reinforcement brackets... Good thing he didn't damage it  Unless I hand over the key STAY OFF!

I guess the question needs to be asked. Does a 16" wide track take more power to turn since you are cutting a 1" wider swath through the snow? I would say probably, yes? If it does cut a wider swath in the powder is packing a wider area (16") more or less effective than having a longer contact path (like a 159"). If wider tracks all of a sudden work better why did we ever end up with 15" tracks and not the 20" wide tracks some of the manufacturers used years ago? Is it because now we have the power to turn the wider tracks easily? Powder Blue
