Which type of ski would work the best for trail riding and some off trail powder riding.Didn't like the way the stock ski's performed in the powder.I do 60% on trail 40% off trail. How do you think the new Mtn ski would work. Thanks :4STroke: ;)!

So far it looks like Simmons has the clear nod as the ski to get.Do they come in different widths if so which width works best. Thanks

BBY & JTSRX and i all have the C@A PRO SKIS!!

THEY ARE AWSOME AND TONS CHEAPER THAN SIMONS SKIS.. they are 6 iches wide too...

Either way you cannot go wrong as the stock skis plain suck... But for the money i believe the C@As are better!!

I would like to know what the differences are between and Simmons and the Doo skis. Why one over the other. Has anyone compared both, or are the Simmons users more vocal about their equipment?

The difference is that Simmons is the originator or inventor, and Doo are THIEVES. Simmons invented the whole technology and patented it. Doo copied it. Doo is being sued, and the most recent info is that the judge agrees. It looks like Doo is going to have to pay Simmons Million$. I believe in paying my money to the inventor, not the knock off company.

Besides the Simmons being wider than the DOO there is absolutely no comparison in the quality of the finish and the materials used.

Yes the C&A are cheaper and are right now being dumped for prices far below retail, must be a reason, but after a year they are fugly.

I don't know if the Doo Summit skis are the same as the trail sleds but, I know the Summit riders can't seem to get rid of the stock skis and put on Simmons quick enough. I rode a summit with the stockers and they do ok on the trail but in powder they like to throw you around unexpectedly. If you don't want Simmons my next choice would be a set of SLP Powder Pros. I have heard they are almost as good as Simmons on the trails and some say better than Simmons in the powder.

The first thing the wifes '05 RMK 900 gets is a set of Simmons by the way. ;)!

I have heard people with DOO skis complain about wet snow building up under the skis. The Simmons Flexi Ski has ridges under the ski to help wet snow escape. I did not suffer any snow build up under my Flexi Skis last season.

I also read on this site last season where you had to do some special things with the DOO skis to get them to fit on the RX1. Not sure if that is still true. The Flexi Ski installation was a piece of cake.

Regarding C&A versus Flexi Ski, I know Welt likes the the way they carve but has also complained about the effort required to turn the skis (might be the 8" carbides) The Flexi Ski is easy to turn, they don't dart nearly as much as others, they stay on top of the powder, and they carve on the trails. I also believe the wider skis help stabalize in tight corners. I will never go back to stockers. The first mod to my 05 RX1 will be a set of Flexi Skis.

help buying new skis

Been reading all posts on skis I can find. I'll be going with simmons flexi skis, but not sure of carbide lenght. I run 90% on grumed trails. Any suggestions. They cost 595 Canadian plus tax and 25 shipping. Hope they are good as everyone says!

You are paying too much, go to the SnoWest Swapmeet under skis. Even the Cat dealers are selling for less. Best prices are around $481 Canadian plus tax. Add $10 if you want 6" all around.

I think you have made the right choice. The Simmon's essentially make your front end feel wider. This is because of the outermost carbides end up being the edge the sled pivots upon in a turn vs the center of the ski with the stockers.
You will notice a difference.
Good call. PB
