ok so i bought a polaris sno-x track 121x14x1.75 got it installed also did an oil change, and plug change, now the there is a god awful grinding noise metal on metal :o| #$%&* , it sounds like it's comming from around the primary clutch and or the driver area. does anybody have any idea? maybe the drive chain is too lose, too tight? the track dosent seem to be hitting or rubbing anything. any idea's???

did u make sure u put all the spacers back in the right places in the chain case? id pop the cover and check that. make sure the sprokets are linged up with each other and theres no more then normal mettal flakes in the bottom. and while ur in there u can check the chain tention. sould have about a 3/8 inch deflection when u push on it but make sure it has atleast a 1/8 clearence while pusing on it between it and the case.

Sounds exactly like mine did as it was eating the one way clutch on the starter.

Our adjuster bolt comes off with the cover. Not sure how you would measure anything other than clearance. When I did mine I just threaded rubber washer up to hex on bolt and turned bolt in with my fingers til I felt it go tight then backed off about a 1/4turn.Is that okay?

im pretty sure i figured it out, i pulled the chain case and found that the bolt that holds the lower gear in plcace had come loose, lock-tighted (red) it and straped the track down so it wouldt spin, and tighned it up real good, that was wehn i got home from work at about 4 this am so I'll take it for a spin later today to see if that fixd it, im guessing it was sence i also printed out a schematic of how it all goes back togeather, thanks for all the help this is a great site with lots of very usefull info :yam:

well i guess all is not well here, I took i out today and tried it, still does th same thing, I will be taking it all back apart agian when i get home form work tomorrow am :o| i dunno if i cant get it this time i guess I'll be taking down to the dealer's thuis sux lots of fresh snow and no sled to ride

whoever said about the chain finger tight and a quarter back is correct

thats how all the snox guys that i know do it

Thanks.I was a bit worried there.200mi on since and no issues.

yep the polaris sno-x track 14" x 1.75" fits great the stock drivers fit fine, it has the same pitch 2.52 as the stock track, wow what a difference it made, now my only delema is do i stud it or not?? what do you think do you need studs with that much lug?? :rocks:

I think I would drive it around a bit,see if you need them or not. They would probably help out on the ice in a corner.
