Seems like you just hit the kill switch.. Im riding and all of a sudden it just shuts down for a 1/2 sec. I was caught off guard.. I sort of let off the throttle and look down and it comes back on. (it wasnt off long enough for the engine to stop) Like you just hit the kill and pulled it back up. I was riding up a small hill, maybe 35mph, not bumpy realy. About a half hour later I was riding on a flat old rail bed. Going maybe 40 and it happened again. This time long enough for the engine to wind down to a stop , but just enough to back fire. Started right back up and ran fine for an hour home.
I am thinking it is another wire harness issue? Shorting out somewhere? Comments?? Ideas? I thought I remembered someone else having this issue and it was a wire harness under the engine?? I tried to search for it but could not find it. I need to find this because what If Im out and get stranded. Especially if one of my 2 stroke freinds are with me?
Please help!! Im going to start searching the harness tomorrow.
Thanks guys.
Tony

I had a wiring harness short right under the tool box air box area in the main harness. Start there.

Like Dave said, start under tool box. Wires may be worn at chassis on right side of tool box area.

1/2 second shutdown.
My 2003 also does this sometimes. Maybe five times in the last three years. It's never done it while I was moving. Sitting there idling Iv'e hit the throttle and it just dies. Start it back up and away it goes. What causes this problem. I am also afraid that I'll get stranded.

Sounds like a kill switch wiring problem (wire grounding out)

I had the same thing once this year. Going along at night, all of a sudden the headlight flashed off & then on. I caught a glimpse of the tach needle. It was swinging all the way up & then back - just like it does when you start it up.
Never had it happen again.
BTW - this was on an '04 Warrior.

I found it. I just finished working on the car and I got things put away. I thought before I went into lunch I would pull the handlebar pad off for a quick peek since I intended to start there. There it was. A damn mouse decided it was a good place to live for a while. Chewed up a bunch of the foam and wires. About 2 weeks ago I saw tracks in the snow and he ran out from under it when I started it up. Who knew??
Thanks for the responses guys. I preciate it but am glad I didnt have to use it. I know all too well about the wires in the nose problem. I had an issue with my low coolant/warmup light and found it cut in there.
Younster66 your problem sounds like a TORS issue. Check your throttle cable tension and the throttle stop on the switch. I had that issue many times with the old Phazers...
Thanks guys!!!
