Hello,
I just spend 3 hours by myself putting the skid back in my XTX. my friend and I installed skidoo extroverts, quite a job but supposedly worth it. When I went for a test ride I heard thunking every so often. I thought it was the track tension even though there is no possible way to 'ratchet" with the extroverts. Then I tried the chaincase tension. Then chalked it up to the 4 strokes being so quiet that you here more suspension "working". I drove it back into the garage frustrated and jacked it back up to discover that the extroverts and plastic tips were "shaved from rubbing together. I was told I would have no issues, but then again with aftermarket stuff anything can happen.
Sorry so long winded, how do you "trim the rails" it is important to replace/rerivet the plastic cap back on???

Do a search I know i saw this within the last week or two on here.
Type in "Extrovert" on the search, on the forum drop down select fx nytro

I just did mind its not a big deal but you should pull your skid out first, I did mine in and it was a pain to say the least. If you have the skid out drill the two rivets out that hold each tip on, pop them off and then just use a cut off wheel on a die grinder to trim the rail off. I cut along the front of the two rivet holes and then just angled the top and bottom to fit the inside profile of the tip. I didn't take any pics or Id post them for you.

I posted to watch this exact thing, but everyone played it down and thought they'd clear with no issues.
AS the suspension compresses, the rail tips jab into the drivers, and trash everything.........don't ask me how I know, because noone listens anyway!

I trimmed 1/4 inch off of mine, but have not had a chance to see if it is enough yet. I did what TTT did, and by taking off only 1/4 inch I was able to have enough room to drill a hole for the rivet to go in and still have some material behind it. Probably could have taken off a little more, but I thought that this would be enough. Hope so anyway.
By the way these drivers that I am going to use are Avids and 9 tooth, probably the same as the Doo drivers you are talking about.
Let us know how it goes for you, as the only reason no one was answering in the earlier posting (I believe) is because no one really knows yet as the XTX uses different mounting points than the other nytros.

I took mine for a quick rip today and with only 2 inches of snow in the ditch I know my suspension was traveling all the way and no hitting. I took aprox 3/8ths off.

sorry about the impatience..... was just desperate for a remedy. I trimmed a lot of one of the rails (cut it just far enough to leave the hyfax screw in place). I am going to have to do some shaping of the plastic cap in order to reinstall it so it boltable or rivetable again. From the looks of it there should be no way it will hit anymore. It has almost as much clearance as my buddies SE and those aren't supposed to have any issues

The thing that makes them hit is when you cross a road, or go over a snowbank.....that makes the front arm compress and move the rails twords the drivers, and CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK.
BTW its a really good way to trash brand new drivers. I did that on my Rev, and it created a vibration, because the drivers were all chewed up and they shook like crazy at hi speed.
Trim the rails right away.
