I had the dealer install a set of 5.7 Pilot skis on my Apex, I took it out today and put 100 Km on them. The sled was darting all over the place and going around corners at any decent speed lifted the one ski off the ground which made it pretty scary. It really darted bad when letting off the throttle. The trails had just been groomed so not to many ruts.
Is there an adjustment I need to do to fix this? or should I put the stock skis back on.
Thanks,

Jack up the front of the sled and see how the skis are. Do they point up, point way up, level, point down or point way down. "Rule of Thumb" is that you want them to point up slightly. Any pointing down is normally bad and will cause more darting.
Also check the toe on the skis.
Also check the toe on the skis.

Do they have two carbides per ski? Some of the pilots are only coming with one carbide. As NY_Nytro says also, they should be in a pointed up configuration and toed out.

The pilots on the 08 REV XP only have a center carbide, they are not even drilled for the outside one. I noticed the same things as you did when I was riding yesterday onm freshly groomed trails. it would dart a little and sometimes lift a ski or push in the corners. I have 1700 miles on my carbides and they are worn but I am going to check my ski shimming too.

Drill the holes and add the second carbide. They need two carbides per ski and need heel pressure to get rid of the darting.

I have zero problems with mine..They are sooo much lighter and track much better than stock. Mine came with 4 carbides, and the rubber thingy..It was all a big kit. I used the yamaha bolts from my old skiis to install the front loops..When installed the rubbers keep pressure on the back of the ski..Hope you figure out whats wrong..Sounds like the dealer did something wierd.

I bought the $239 5.7 kit and installed using the rubber stopper that came with the kit. I bought Woody's 6" for the middle and used the stock 4" for the sides. IT DARTED ALL OVER THE TRAIL. I thought this would be my answer. $239 + Carbides and no relief on the darting. This is getting old real fast. I will check the alignment and shim the ski as necessary (I did not do this out of the gate). I pray this works!

Between 2 of us we have over 10K miles on this set-up. Yes, drill out and add second carbide!

Thanks for the advise
My Skis have the dual carbides on the out side and middle. What is the best way to jack up the front of the Apex? so I can check to see which way the skis are pointing.
thx,

A floor jack under the front bulkhead or a lift works best. If you have heel pressure towards the rear of ski and dual carbides already, you might try taking some spring pressure away from the front end. Take four rounds out of the from ski shock springs and try that. The problems stems from caring too much weight on the skis with the Apex/Attak. This is about the only way to reduce some weight off the front end. I notice the Ski-Doo skis sit higher than the stock ski by about 1/4 to 1/2 inch depending what carbides are on the skis. This contributes to weight on the skis. Try loosening the springs first. Let us know how that works.
