Can anyone tell me how to compress the spring in order to change the clip position.

If you do a search on "fatboy" or "bigboy" spring you'll find a lot of info on it. Myself I used a coil spring compressor to do the job. In all honesty if you don't have some type of spring compressor it can be a scary job, I would take it out of the suspension and bring it in. They might charge you five or ten bucks. Less than the cost of the spring compressor. I guess it depends how confident you are with this type of work, and how often you plan on moving the clip around.
If you weigh 200 or more I would just order the "Fat Boy" spring. You'll most likely end up getting it anyway.

2 small ratchet straps without hooks . Weave it thru the spring . 1 strap on each side of the spring. careful , lots of tension there. Takes 5 min.

I'm 230 raw and I'm very happy with the c -clip on the second position with the stock spring.
