In looking to get more ski pressure on my Pilot 5.7s, it was recommended to loosen center shock spring and pull down the strap 1 hole. Questions;

1. to accomplish that goal, do I need to do both or will 1 of those work?
2. I see how to adjust the strap, but can I do it myself or does someone have to compress the suspension to assist?
3. Other than putting more pressure on the skiis, what else happens in doing this?

Thanks for the help.

IF you have ratchet straps you can use them to compress the suspension and they will hold it until you are done.

The tighter the strap is the more weights on the skis. this takes some weight off the track and you might experience less traction.

Just put a 2x4 under the front track and it will compress it enough to adjuts the strap. Its quick and east. Or a log or stump in the trail works for trail adjustments

strap adjustment

front strap totally easy to adjust. I just put my shop dolly under the front of the suspension and sat on the machine. look underneathand the straps are loose. loosen the bolts move the straps to where you want them 1 hole or 2 and tighten bolts. lift the sled off the dolly and you are done.

Thanks Guys! Should the center shock spring be loosened as well, or just start with 1 hole on the strap and see how that works?

limiter strap

I just change one thing at a time this way you have an idea what each adjustment did and if you should reverse it and try something else. if you make 3 adjustments and go out riding and hate your set up whick one do you change back. where if you are riding and have made only one adjustment and like it you can move on to the second thing you wanted to try. usually my riding buddies stop for 5 to 10 minutes every 10 km or so if you need to try something you are making the changes on the same day same trail, which helps. as memory fades with age. good luck

On my rtx se I just tightened it 1 hole and it made a big difference. I would try that first.

I wouldn't loosen the center shock spring at the same time, since then the suspension will start getting soft and you'll be sacrificing ride quality.

I agree change one thing at a time!

We takes notes and change one thing at a time and note in a notebook what the change did. That way you have a good log of what works and does not. Remember trail conditions and snow conditions cause different reactions so note those as well.
