Almost ready to finish up my turbo vector and I can't find my exhaust gasket. I am talking about the one that would go between the turbo and header. What are some alternatives that could be used temporary? Both flanges are very close to flat. I surfaced the header flanges on a manifold surfacer and the turbo I am sure is pretty good. So I don't need to seal up big imperfections.

1. Copper RTV? Will it handle the heat?
2. Copper Sheet? Where to get it?
3. aluminum annealed? Will this handle the heat?

I just want to be able to run it thie week to get it tuned and get a few miles on it.

I have seen YamaBond 6B used in place of a turbo flange gasket. This is what I have to use on the discharge flange as well (can't find a gasket).

Turbo gasket

I’m running a Alpine front mount GT2860 on my apex and I’m not running a gasket as I found the stainless bolts kept breaking do to expansion and contraction. And It’s been working great since. Good luck.

Thanks Pat,

This is good to know. If anyone else doing this? Maybe with just a coating of ultra copper rtv or really thin copper sheet metal gasket?

I used permatex ultra copper on mine, never had a leak with good flat contact surfaces.

I thought yammabond wasnt designed for high heat and was somewhat semi-drying?

Ultra Copper RTV

Will probally try this. What is the best way to apply it. Make a bead, tighten bolts slightly and then let it dry and then tighten, Or make a bead and tighten while still wet?

The black 6B doesn't burn, tried it with a torch. Always had used that to seal 2-stroke pipe joints...
I now use it on the apex donuts and also gasket between the headers and cylinder head too.

I made mine out of copper sheet and don't use any sealer. It work fine. Ken...

Thanks

Well I put the turbo on the header last night and used ultra copper. I think it seems like it will work well.

So onto the next question. I was only able to get lock washers on two of the four bolts. Should i be worried about this and try to get this changed. This is a custom built header and has very little room to get in and tighten bolts let alone getting a lock washer on two of them.

What are guys using?
