I had the same hesitation with my Bender Exhaust. Went back to stock. Problem solved and got some power back.

I finally got the stumble and popping resolved. I have since removed the CR10EK plugs but I don't think they were adding to the problem. I installed a Power Commander III, Ignition Module, opened up my air box and went with a 40T lower gear. With the PCIII I added +11 % fuel to the 2% and 5% throttle position between 1500 to 4000 RPM's and it solved the problem. It runs real smooth and strong now.

So what would you guys recommend for people that have an AIRBOX MOD and EXHAUST??
Can we use our stock gauge for adjustment??
If so what setting?? +10 to +15???
Thank you!

IMO, NO... You need a PCIII... Some of the sleds that are completely stock have a stumble and you may be able to correct it with a pod mod, but not always... With an exhaust and airbox mod you definetly need a controller. End of story..

just took out my brand new apex last night. put the excell pipe on right away when i bought it. it made that popping noise at first after it was all warmed real good i never noticed it. so i was wondering will it do this worse at higher elevations. i 1 ride from 2000 to 10000 feet. sleds all stock except for the exhaust.

Buy it from Ulmer and he will have a map already for you and while you are at get the ignition controller. Great bang for the buck.
