Since I bought the 2003 RX1, this is honestly the 1st year that I have noticed YAMAHA catching the attention of all riders from all walks of life (Ski-Doo, Polaris, Arctic Cat) who are SERIOUSLY consdering switching to a Yamaha 4-stroke. I cannot tell you how many times last week on our ride that I heard die-hard Ski-Doo riders, Polaris and Cat riders even utter the words...4-Stroke, Yamaha, Next Year in the same sentence. You have their attention and now you need to keep it!
IF.....these 2006's are bulletproof and I mean bulletproof, I can honestly see Yamaha taking a HUGE share of the sled market from the others in the years to come. Conversely.....if this model year is plagued with problems (big or small)....you will lose 3 years of building a solid reputation by riders just waiting for a reason to get back on their 2-stroke brands of choice.
Just a heads up. As we say in my particular industry....It's Yours to lose!

They're expensive, but have you seen the price of the new Doos this year? There 800HO with rebuildable shocks and 1.25" track is $10,200 retail. That's with the free electric start from Doo. The Apex is $9,600 retail with the $400 off from Yamaha. Or the Renegade is $9300 with 1.25" track but no rebuildable shocks. I think the Apex looks like a good deal when you figure in a fuel-injected 4-stroke. And I didn't even price a MachZ. I know that's more than any Yamaha.

Oh and the fact they can't seem to make up there mind... To demo or not to demo... You don't know how many Ski-doo riders were at the Coleman show this weekend that were pissed off they couldn't test ride the 06s... I bet they lost a bunch of sales on them... I for one are looking at other sleds now because of the b-ll they pulled...

Can't imagine not being able to demo ride the new sleds have hurt their sales. Thousands of people snowcheck and buy new sleds every year without demo riding!

A couple of weeks back, I was riding in Northern Maine on my '05 candy red RX-1 on one of the most crowded weekends I can remember. Without fail, anytime I stopped to read a sign or take a swig of water, people stopped to gawk at the thing like it was a Lamborghini among a sea of Camaros. One guy said, "Hey, could you rev that thing up again...I've never heard anything sound so awesome." Everyone asked how it rode, complimented it's looks, and then asked the price. Even though everybody's loyal to their Arctic Cat's (especially those it seems), Ski-Doos, Polaris, etc., they're all really intrigued with the Yamahas. They all want to learn more about them but they don't want their friends to know that they're interested. Seems like more and more are coming out of the woodwork and converting. Why wouldn't you? I'm a former Ski-Doo rider and these things are absolutely incredible. The converts are coming!

Yes, they are getting pricey but consider the sleds we have in our possesion for sale or trade-in are going to have allot more value to them, compared to 2-stroke, to help ease the pain...a little.
:ORC I don't think I'll be buying a new sled anytime soon, especially when '06 is, for the most part, an intro model.

Its true, I've never recieved so many comments and questions from other brand riders as I have since I've owned my Vector.

I agree with toys. I assumed our used 4 strokes would hold their value better than they are.
