I just installed a 6000k bi-xenon HID kit today in my 08' MTX. I've almost got it wrapped up but I had a couple quick questions about the final install.
1. Anyone able to use the rubber boots that go around the stock H4 bulbs with the HID bulbs? If not do I just leave them off the sled?
2. I saw on another forum a guy modified the metal housing around the bulb. Why would you do this and does it help with output and light pattern? Picture attached at bottom
3. I noticed that sometimes my HID's wont shut off when I turn off the sled. I have 12v+ going to the starter relay and the grounds to the steering post mount. Everything is wired in exactly as it should be and hi/low function works as expected. If I turn the sled on and shut it off right away the lights will stay on. If I start it and let it run for atleast 30 seconds then shut it off the lights turn off. Possible stuck relay???
4. Any other advice with HIDs?
Thanks

I went ahead and messed around with some different options. I took off the caps and it definitly helped put out more low beam light. The majority of the light is at the bottom of the cut off so this is good light, not high blidning light that will impare oncoming riders. I'm debating cutting the hi-beam holes only because once they are cut there is no going back. I honestly dont even know if high beams will be needed with HID's but I'm moving to Minnesota in a month and I could see where far reaching high beams can come in useful when riding on open lakes and fields at night.
So far the lights have been shutting off after the sled is ran for atleast 15-30 seconds. If I start it and kill it the lights will stay on. I contacted my seller about replacing the relay and am waiting to hear back from them. Just have to make sure to keep an eye on the headlights if we stop for a beer break...
Thanks for all the advice, been most helpful.

Just went for it and glad I did. Here are before and after shots. Sorry the sled is on my trailer in the garage so the light patern is skewed a bit from the bars on the front ramps.

High beams then Low / Hi with HID's.
Then some pics of my brackets I fabricated.. .57 cents a piece at lowes in the lumber department, cut about 3/4 inch off both and drilled out mounting hole. Used double sided sticky tape that came with HID's and then zip ties to keep in place just in case. Wiring bundled nicely under speedo cowel and up out of the way to ensure air reaches upper radiator without obstruction.
I opened up the high beam slots in the anti-glare bracket to the point just below the eliment in the HID bulb. It works perfectly and the high beam is now more precise and less loss of light.
