09 FX Nytro hid kit trouble shooting help

Hey guys just installed an h4 standard hid kit on my nytro but when I start it up it just goes on for a split second then turns off.

One bulb I have the power going to the relay and the second bulb the 3 prong is just hanging loose but that bulb is connected to the second ballast.

I checked all connections everything is good do I need to take off a relay or something to have it stay on?

I tested and put one of the stock bulbs back in while one hid was in and only the stock bulb stayed on. Power cable is going direct to batter as well as all grounds.

Please offer some help as I will check it over tomorrow once more before having to change back to stock.

Checked headlight fuse and it is not blown either (20 A)??

You may have a bad ballast.
I put a set of HID's on my sled couple years ago, sounds like everything is hooked up correctly.

Did you use error eliminators by any chance? When I ordered my kit it was suggested, found out I didn't need them, so I didn't use them.

The kit is brand new so if it was a bad ballast wouldn't one light still work and the other not work? I mean what are the odds both ballast are bad?

Do I need to pull a fuse or do something with a relay? I thought it would just be plug and play but both lights are just cutting out as soon as I turn the power to them on.

I'm going to double check all connections today

I've read it could be the auto on feature or whatever needing to be disabled? Or that may be just for cars I'm not sure

Sorry not sure? Mine was completely plug and play. Hook up sounds like what you described.
Try swapping ballasts and see if it makes a difference.

Update I just went out to play around with it hooked up everything again and same thing. The hids do not turn on until I actually start the machine then they cut out after a second.

Switched the 3 prong power to the other side plug and same thing. I think it has something to do with cutting power to the ballasts or something weird going on.

May have to just put the old bulbs back in soon and call it a day I may have another ballast from an old car I could try.

They won't come on until sled starts that's normal. Why they cutout after a second or so not sure.

I would check your ground. Had similar intermittent problem last year with DDM tuning kit. Moved ground location, no problems since

All grounds are wired right on the battery terminal.

Guys I finally figured this out after trouble shooting every single wire.

It was the ballasts I got with the kit had this big box in between the power cables which look like some kind of resistor. I don't think it was allowing enough current.

Swapped out to some old ballasts that don't have those and the light stayed on plus the high beams work too. I am going to order 2 more ballasts and swap them out with brand new ones. Also will keep a spare in the tool kit don't want to be stuck on the trails with a light go out.

I'm in southern Ontario but am wondering if I go far up north will the hid kit hold up in -30
