Has anyone had any of their hood decals come off? I got a little careless with the high pressure washer & one of the decals on the side panel completely blew off. The decal is in good shape & could be put back on, but how do I get it to stick? I don't think they adhere very well to the mat black side panel.

I would say you have a good start, and now try to get the rest of them off. lol.

you would need to completely strip any type of protectant (armorall) off of the side panel, it will appear greyish. You can get it at most automotive stores, Paint Prep wax and grease remover, or laquer thinner. YOU MUST WIPE THE SECTION CLEAN THREE TIMES, ONCE WHEN APPLYING REMOVER, THEN ONCE TO DRY IT, AND ONE MORE TIME TO REMOVE ANY HAZE. Use a clean cloth each time. I would then use some 3M spray 77 adhesive and re-apply. Push out the air bubbles, and let it dry in a heated area for @ least 24 hours. Becareful with pressure washers, they are not all equal in pressure.

I have a friend who's riding group is mostly Apexes and Vectors. Many have had those stickers come off, even on the trail. I have my registration numbers on the mat black panels but haven't had any issues yet.

Our 2010 RS Vector LTX side panel decals came off. They probably cost $80 for another set..

decals

mine came off 1st year. buddy's apex same thing they r expensive. take the rest off and paint.

May be cheaper to replace all with aftermarket like I did. I think my set was around $90 from arcticfx.

Well I finally got around to installing the decal on the side panel of my 2010 Vector. I didn't notice until I brought the other panel inside to give it a polish that the new L side decal doesn't match the original R side decal. The original has a high gloss finish & the new one has a matt finish. Is there a difference in the parts numbers or did Yamaha screw up? I've asked my dealer to check into it.

There is a protective layer of clear tape on the decal, when you install it you can peel the clear tape off!

Right you are! Thanks. While peeling off the clear tape, the decal lifted off the panel. It sure didn't stick very well.

I had one of the decals on the flat black panel start to peel so I took both off, I think it looks cleaner without!

yep both the 2008 we have, the stickers have come of, bought a new 2010 last winter, they're still on. first sticker flew off at about 90mph and scared the crap out of my wife who was following behind.

I have a side body panel sticker just starting to come off now, the corner is just lifting up.
Is there some type of glue/adhesive that I can use to prevent it from coming off further so I don't have to replace the whole thing?

It's a 40th Vector and I want to keep it looking like one the best I can.

Thanks ;)!

Side panel stickers are crappy went through two sets. Peel em of so one side matches the other and keep on ridin . Decals didnt seem to hurt the performance. It's nice to have cosmetics but when they designed the panels, the rough finish dosnt allow the decals to stick very well.
