Hot grips / handle bar question

This is my first post so, I hope it doesn't suck. That aside, I have an 09 Nytro MTX 153 and the guy I bought it from flipped it and tweaked the bars. Before checking this (like a fool) I ordered the Yamaheater kit. Are the stock hot grips removable without destroying them? Also, what bar is good for mountain riding besides a stock replacement. Also what effect would the Yamaheater kit have on aftermarket hot grips? Anybody have any experience with that? Thanks!

You will destory the grips and elements getting the stockers off, best thing to do is buy the RSI kit elements and grips kit. You can get it from RSI or yamaha. Any bars are will fit as long as they are 7/8 i believe. You just have to watch the style of bend of the bar to not bee too much taller than the stocker. You could get Aluminum bars, Pro taper, Doo XRS alum bars anything you want pretty much just have to find what ones you like really. Yamaheater changes the way the ECU controls the power to the grips, it doesnt matter what physical grips it is hooked up to. It will make even the stock heater very warm, the RSI's i'm sure would be burning hot as they are supposed to be better than stock.

You can easily straighten the stock bars with no tools by grabbing one end of the bars with both hands. They are quite soft.

yamaheaters BYPASS ECU control of heaters.
stock the ECU either turns down power or Turns off power if sled is idling, brakes go on, etc.

hence alot of times you start sled up, turn grips all the way up they are freeezing, then you start ripping down the trail and your hands start burning.

Thanks for the flurry of information, you guys rock! I don't think I'll be bending stock bars back into place, especially if they're soft. I don't know much about the stock handlebars but I am familiar with the effects of metal fatigue. I'd rather not take my chances on a steering component.

I'll probably go with some RSI bars then, that's what a few locals have suggested, it seems to be the way to go. Thanks again! Lifesavers!!

I put the xrs bars on my RTX. They are alum too. Since you need to replace them its a chance to shed a pound or two.
