I am new to Yamaha snowmobiles other then a SRV I had way back in the day! I purchased a 08 FX Nytro with 400 miles on it. My concern is the lack of heat from the grips I have been reading about. Here are my questions. Has anybody heard of anyone burning up the stator using the RSI set up when connecting the red/blue together to get the most heat? ( I believe this is correct). Second, will the boost module work on the stock grips or only with the yamaheater? I am scared to even go on a trip with the grips as I have wimpy hands!lol

I put the RSI grips on my nytro (they come in the yamaha kit from the accressory book) they were no help. I then got the yamaheaters with boost and thumb boost and warm hands. Just get the yamaheaters, you'll be happy and warm.

Another question! They say the issue is in the programming of the ecu. Could you put another ecu from a newer nytro and fix the issue? There is a very good chance I will be getting the yamaheater. I just crave knowledge on these issues I guess and there seems to be a lot of very knowledgeable people on here. Thanks for all the help on this entire forum!

Best thing to do is get the yamaheater w/ boost , I hooked my RSI grips up to get the most heat but still at low rpm it didn't have a lot and I wanted more so the yamaheater went on , the newer sleds are better they say but not great so changing the ecu I don't think is the way to go , more cost effective to go with yamaheater and it works in all rpm's ;)!

Thanks for the input. I will probably order a Yamaheater this week. Should I get the thumb kit too or wait until I ride it? I just hate for my first trip on it to be miserable. I have done plenty of mods that everybody says to do for handeling plus some others. Tracks USA 136 kit, mpi slip on, sb stage 2 clutch kit, reverse and shim ski rubbers, bergstrom, oilite, shocks revalved by fox, rox adj rider, ball joint mod, toe out 1/2" and maybe more.(can't remember off hand). Anyone have a used yamaheater for sale? :sled1:

Get the yamaheater with boost and thumb boost right away if you have wimpy hands. I got the thumb booster after, my hands would cook but thumb freezing. Its awesome how well they work, crank them at first then run on 1 bar the rest of the day.

Got the yamaheater and thumboost and all I can say is truly amazing! Rock is first class all the way. Customer service is top notch! Thanks for the input and advice. Bars might be the warmest I have had on any sled!

I also have an 08 RTX but must have gotten lucky as I don't have any issues with my heater, most of the time I have to turn them down. Seems to take a bit for them to warm up, but that is normal in the colder temps around here. I also wear quality leather mitts not gloves...
