If you look at this pic, it is sick how much his ski tips are pointing up. This takes shimming to a whole new level!!

They sucked, guess i'll have to wait and tell the womans that can't handle a 4strokes weight to shut the f up a while! they seem to have a problem with certain tracks, x-games was very hardpacked and good rhytm sections good for the yammy, a trashed track seems to be bad, and they need to get the setup sorted out they¨'ve been out for awhile. hopefully they are their biggest critics!
Tucker won. He led the entire race, never was challenged. Taking nothing away from him (he's far and away the best rider), but his sled is working MUCH better than the Yamys.

Tucker sled is setup by a dedicated crew incuding his very experienced old man....he does have the setup to win.
Most pro drivers in the final at that level can win...if the sled works.
The Yamaha - just needs work. Its a better pacakge I think than any sled out there - they just can't get it figured out.

definatley agreed with that. all the other manufactures have had many more years expierence with racing than yamaha. it will take them a few years to get the bugs worked out of he system but when they do watch out poo, cat, and doo

I was there, it was ugly.
Frustrating to hear the anti Yamaha crowd comments. They always looked strong in hole shoot, then would fade.
They seemed to bounce all over, the 'race color commentator' who was prior racer, kept stating that the front ends looked way to stiff.
What ever, they were not competitive, I do not say this as a slam, I love Yamaha, but they were not even in the race in the last chance qualifier - again strong start and then fade to back.

Well ….this is the next best thing to watching the sled I guess – oh well. When we returned in 99 I said too much at a meeting because I thought things were new – made a fool of myself – this racing game hasn’t changed one iota.
Just to be clear – right – others have had more snox track experience. But – Yamaha had one of fastest race 440’s on the track as far back as early 70’s.
Simply because of the shear number of competitors and development back then – 440 mods were well into 100 HP – narrow power band and the 340’s were not far behind.
I want to be clear what I said (hard for me to do at the best of times) Yamaha has built a winning product, as have the others. But…..the guys from Cat and Polaris have some serious race depth.
This is not soccial online stuff like we discuss here…it’s a different world where you work 13 + hours a day 8 days a week in order to stay on top. The holidays only provide more time to work. In addition – they don’t have volumes of people sending in input. And if they did – who would these people call?
I got a chance to see Benders factory sled – there are a million tiny things done – he is thinking. Several things…… opposite to the norm. One being he has tucked his skis in – but he did it so it’s hard to tell. (been there)
Yamaha has two excellent drivers – I watched one of them on his Doo racing the CSRA. Contrary to popular belief – his sled was not fast - it was suspended well – and shifted well – but off the mark as far as crispness……but the guy is a rocket, not aware if he is a feedback guy.
From listening – this is only me – thinking ….I would guess Yamaha’s clutching is off – (only one of the million things required) it sounds like its getting very hot and robbing power. Lack of engine instant response can affect a ton things including steering.
When I saw them at CSRA – they were very twitchy as well. The sled is good – just needs to be dialled.
I better shut up. I guess I need a 4/ so I can play on my own!

If you look at that picture, notice that the Yammi's skis are on the same plane as everyone elses - the problem is that it is nose diving because of the heavy front end. I have a Nytro, absolutely LOVE it, but when you push it hard, it does tend to nose-dive and make that front suspension work awfully hard. They need to figure out a way to get better balance on the sled - put some lead weights on the back end so the nose stays up - I don't think it is a weight problem as that motor is absolutely amazing and can carry anything. I think the driver poops out from exhaustion quickly because it is simply a handful when you are pushing the limits. Maybe that's why they did the XTX - more mass in the rear end helps hold the back end down better?? Wig
Yamaha has the HP figured out for this season, that isn't an issue. The chassis is a work in progress.
Too bad Yamaha's race program totally sucks, or should I say, is practically nonexistent when compared to Pol, Cat & Doo. Kinda hard for a factory to figure out what they need to do if they are only taking input from a select few.

Do you think, if the A-armes were angled out front farther would that help suport the front better, instead of strate out like they are.

Front end id heavy which is true but he is ready to land so he can't be level like the rest are.wigman1 said:If you look at that picture, notice that the Yammi's skis are on the same plane as everyone elses - the problem is that it is nose diving because of the heavy front end. Well it seems that when they have a accident on the sled and piece it back together they have great results(MN 2007,X-games2008).As for the part about fielding more sleds i think thats a bad idea in this economy right now.Motorsports is in a rough hit(Honda pulling out of F-1 with more to follow,Nascar is on its last bag of oats),not a good time to spend money on a race program with high cost.Lets hope we have sled manufacters after we crawl out off this hole the world is in.
