Bought a new 05 Vector which I still have
24K miles
My 05 Vector has 14,000 miles on her and I'm thinking about installing a new chain and gears. Only reason I'm thinking about it is the amount of miles on the system. Is there a way to check to see if the chain and gears are worn? There is nothing noticeably wrong with the system and I'm anal about yearly gear oil changes (use 75W-90 Mobil 1).

Any ideas? :rocks:

Measure the length of as many links stretched in a straight line as you can and compare to actual pitch. You'll have to confirm this but I think allowable stretch on silent chain is two to three percent.

The chance are your gears are good if you look at them you tell that they are bad the chain I would replace with ant doubt it is bad you can buy a replacement from hi-performance Engeering at a very good price I can look it up a tell you the make of the chain. It is either Borg Warner or D.I.D chain .
