Im planning to add 1 - 2 inches of foam to my seat to stop it from bottoming. I plan to put it under the existing foam. Not sure on seat removal. I couldnt see any nuts to remove in tunnel that might hold seat in place. Any suggestions??

There are 2 phillips screws holding the grill around the tail lights. Remove them. 3 allen head screws hold the exhaust tip covers, the other 2 are decoration. the 3 are at 12,4 & 8 position wise. Remove the covers. Remove the grill. here are 2 hook type bolts attached to the seat. Use a 10 mm wrench to remove the 2 nuts on these bolts. Disconnect the electric cable at the plug under the black shroud on the right side of the sled just in front of the phillips screw attachining the shroud to the tunnelat the bottom left corner of the shroud. The screw is hidden by the lower edge of the seat just below the gas tank. The seat will pull off the back of the sled.

Check the tech section on installing the maxximum performance exhaust on this iste. It has detailed instructions with pictures on how to remove the seat.

Rx1-Snow: I did the same thing to my seat as you want to, and it worked out really well. Not only is it much more comfortable, it also took care of the "wrinkle" that formed across the seat after riding a while. One thing to watch out for is the straps that go through the original foam at the point where the seat has the "step-up". I had to grind a new contour in the foam with a sanding disk, because the new foam spaced up the surface and the vinyl didn't fit right until I did this. Also, make sure you use stainless or monel staples in a powerful gun w/ reattaching the vinyl to the plastic seat base, as it is REALLY tough stuff. Have fun!!!! 8) 8)

I just finished my seat. I added ~ 1 inch of closed cell foam that I bought at canadian tire. It feels a little softer and the wrinkle is gone .

I havent driven it yet but I expect it will be a little easier on my crotch as I like to ride near the tank.

It took about 2 hrs to do. Thanks for info on seat removal.
