how does apex suspension compare to 01 sx r

got a sxr 500 and im looking at a 07 phazer or a apex rtx, i do sum ditch riding and sum trail riding so im kinda wondering if the apex will be to fat for a good mix of both

You should be looking into nytro instead of apex for aggressive ditch riding. But if you don't get crazy the apex rtx will do some mild ditches ok. Get the phazer if 500cc power is all you need, nytro will give you 700cc power, apex 800cc+ power. I have a 500 vmax and it's way light. An apex will be more at home on the trail then the ditch.

I think the Apex could be considered the same way you might look at an older tripple if that'll help any? They don't like spending much time in the air, plain and simple. Occasionally sure, but you aren't going to want a steady diet of it.

My RTX is great on the trail. What kind of ditch bangin are you referring to? rural road sides or 3' deep fire/llogging road ditches? The power is plentiful but the apex likes to sink into the deep stuff. I never go deep alone and when i do, I dive in hard and keep on the throttle 'til i'm out of the ditch. You must commit and not stop until you're out safe. I've ridden the newer Phaser and they are a blast but only when riding motorcross style (standing, leaning, and generally working hard). For the trail and moderate powder play, I love my RTX.
