How far are you letting your slides wear?

I did a search and it seems most people are using the old 10mm wrench to check slide wear. The Yamaha manual says 10.5mm wear limit. I've got about 3800 miles on my current slides but can't get a 12mm wrench over the right side slider. However, I can just barely fit the 12mm over a 2" long section on the left side. I'm guessing I should be able to run these slides for at least another 300-400 miles? We are heading out for a ride on Thursday and are expecting to put on 200+ miles. I'm feeling really LAZY and I can't get myself motivated to go out to the garage and change them. I guess I'm looking for some reassurance that I can run these a bit longer?

well the first set I replaced this year i could see my hand throught the other side, not wore through yet! But I was worried so the whole ay home after a ride on hard pack I would tip it up and have someone make sure i wasnt in aluminum yet lol. That is probly the not so recomended way... second set was dangerously thin tooo, but Im on my third set this season (2000 miles tonight) and this last set has lasted 200 miles and is right up on the wear line, or where the slides wied out. I added an extra set of wheels and it cured my slide life problems, but remember i got a mountain with a 1 1/2" track and im trail riding it!
