Are you toasting slides on your fx/gt?

I too toasted my slides on my the Phazer GT with only 229 miles. The one on the right side facing forward is almost all gone and the left has some wear left. I could not get the hyfax screw loose so am taking it to the dealer for changing this time and telling them to make sure they don't tighten like the factory did. If they have a wheel kit I will have them insall it. I have never had hyfax were out in less than 1,000 miles.

We have 3 FX's in my group all wore the sliders into the rails within 1100kms, but its only a 6" area in front of the front idler. I will be adding another idler.

I asked my dealer the same question and he told me it was no problem. Free of charge. He also said that yamaha did know about this problem and that they were working on it. He told me that this was a general problem with all theyr sleds and that it seemsed that the slides had poor quality.

Tack clips part number?

Well, I called the dealer and ordered the extra idler wheels and the composite hyfax (which are supposed to wear better). They also called Yamaha and said that Yamaha would not cover this because they can't guarantee that I was riding in good snow conditions. Also they said that Yamaha doesn't consider it good snow conditions unless you have over eight inches of powder on top of a good base. Anything less than that is not considered good. They said that track clips were not available from Yamaha or the dealers part distributor. So, has anyone already added track clips on the phazer before me and have the part number for the track clips or have contact with Camoplast for the availability of these track clips for the Phazer 14 inch wide Ripsaw track? I looked up Camoplasts phone number and called them, but I can only seem to get peoples voicemails. I did leave a message, so we'll see if they actually call me back. Would be nice if someone has the info already though. Can't hurt to ask, right. Thanks.

Track clip part number

Well, after a number of phone calls I finally got a hold of some one that actually knew something and got the part number from Marshall distributing for the track clips to the stock phazer camoplast track. Yeah the same ones that my dealer says dosen't exsist (or "aren't available"). The part number from Marshall for the non guided track clips is #12-8086. You need 64 of them if you want to put track clips on the rest of the track. So if anyone else needs or wants to do this to help wear on the hyfax this is the info you need. I'm going to install these and I'll let everyone know how it works out on my week long snowmobiling trip the first week of February. I plan on putting on a lot more than the 250 miles I have on the sled now, during that week. Hopefully I won't have to make a trip to the loacal dealer for another set of hyfax in the middle of the trip.

mine have some wear but i'm letting them go, evently they'll stop wearing, the track spin's awesome, i'll keep check to make sure they don't break through to the rails, my attak does the same thing and then stop's

Thanks for info! ;)!

Well at 300 miles of only riding on tug hill I see my slide are gone in the sense if I go for another long ride pieces will be falling off. My question is why does it only seem to wear about four inches in front of idle wheels? It seems to me that this may be related to my ditch banging or rough trails. Dare I say it should I pull up the front strap and try to make the entry angle better and what would I lose in terms of ride or handling? The next question is will the additional wheel kits fit in some portion of that angle and what is the best slide for that high shock load graphite, composite or is there something better out there? and lastly what did yamaha have these slides made of or are they hdpe or just basic plastic?

:die
