I have a new set of hyfax for my LTX, and the way I am measuring the wear thickness of the new set they come out about 7.5mm before reaching the wear line. My old hyfax measure out at no less than 3mm minimum wear thickness at the bend of the front rail where they are worn the most. My question is, should I put the new set on or wait? I have 3,200 miles on the old set and am using oversized Doo idlers and run my track a little more loose than spec. I don't want to change them prematurely and just have the new set reach the same limit quickly and then not really wear much after that. Then again, I don't want to have to pull the rear suspension mid-season to replace an old set. I thought the hyfax could be taken out through the track windows but I saw tonight they are too wide so pulling the skid is necessary. I have the skid out now for shock service. Anyway, just thinking...

And here is a question I posted in the General Forum about torque specs for the suspension in case anyone has any input.

I have had some experience with running the hyfax thin and having a rock or other debrise lodge between the track and hyfax and the hyfax break off at the thin point, resulting in most of the hyfax going out through the track.
Once it went completely out on its own, and once that it was a bugger to get unwound and extracted, therefore I probably would vote to waste the remaning hyfax, especially with the skid allready out
You can change the hyfax without removing the skid, done it many times.

Along time left yet if you ride on snow.

I have had 10 Yammies with up to 12,000 k on them and have never changed hyfax yet.

Yours are jest getting broken in.

Metallicat if your that close to easily change them then why not, also I didn't torque other than a grunt past tight on my rear shock revalve / spring r/r.
