How hard is it to install tunnel protectors?

My dealer told me a lot of stuff had to be done to install tunnel protectors. I was wondering how intensive it was. I noticed too that the Yamaha protectors have a curve to them, I guess to get up by the heat exchangers? The Schmidt Bros. don't have the curve, so I was hoping someone could tell me if there is a big difference in the effectiveness.

Thank you for any help with this.

You could allways use some worn out Hifax.

Well, i just got my set from yamaha, they look quality.... Doesnt look that complicated, they just rivet in, says to remove the suspension, but looks like you may be able to do it without dropping it....

Yeah, I was hoping maybe once you got the seat off there might be an easy way to rivet the protectors in. A buddy of mine has a lift, he said we could probably raise the back end up enough to get where we need to, but I really don't know, I was hoping someone else had tackled this.

Thanks.

I removed the tool box in the back and used the holes in the tunnel to mount the protectors. I did the same in the front. I made two hole and bolted it on, SS bolts =no rust.
