Depending on which way you go it looks like about 140 miles.

145 miles from: the Holiday Inn in Marquette taking trail 8 through Ishpeming to trail 3 to 13 to 12 to the Holiday Gas station in Ontonagon. I would confirm gas stops as it seems that gas stations in the U.P. are dropping like flies. The south trail (8) from Marquette toward Baraga is actually a great stretch, it looks like a straight flat highway, it’s not at all. The Big Bay trail is even better, but obviously out of the way.

Ride from Ontonagon to Ishpeming and stay at Jasper Ridge. Good hotel and brew pub across the street. It should be about 200 miles. Or continue riding to Munising via Gwinn and stay at the Comfort Inn, which would be a 300 mile day. On the next day, ride to Seney, Newberry (avoid Curtis), Trout Lake, Strongs, and the Soo. You could stay at the Casino in Brimley. The key on day #2 is to stay above M-28 as much as possible as the snow is better.

"Trailer ! you don't need no stinkin trailer" there is no trailer in snowmobiling - welllll except to get from your house to the snow.

Strongs Rd!!!! Great for tuning suspensions. I would agree, staying above 28 is the way to go. Plus the trails are more fun as well. If your feeling extra energetic take a loop around the 452.
