how many studs should I run

You will damage your front heat exchanger with those studs and most likely your exhaust. I had marks on mine with 1.450. I would say you will start bending them and ripping them out eventually. You should not go longer than 3/8 of an inch beyond the lug height.

I picked up my 07 apex last year and its got 96 in there now. I have issues on any icy conditions especially when climbing hills. I would say im an intermediate to agressive rider but im trying to learn how to get my sled dialed in for me. im 6'3 260 if that will help.I would like to keep the studs in the middle if possible, I would appreciate your help.
I may get opposition on this but NONE!
I don't know what kind of miles you run annually but if it's alot and you're not rich I would run 0 picks. I've been where you are and struggled with the pick problem. Ran 144 in my apex and trashed the track in one season. I have heard it from many people in the snowmobiling world that picked tracks are good for about 5000 mi. and my experience supports it on a few sleds during my riding history. I will say I loved the bite and the ability to climb icy slopes or climb over downed trees while boondocking but i will never again put picks into a track. I run 3-4,000 miles per season and cannot afford a new track (and new picks) that frequently! I am also an agressive rider of 6'3" about 230#
