'12 Apex SE (black)
'12 Arctic Cat F800 snopro (129, orange)
'15 SRX 120 (blue)
''15 S.Doo Renegade XRS (Ronald McDonald colors)
Sled: Apex SE, '12 w/ 1750 miles total. Studded track, first owner, bought at zero miles.
Background:
As I mentioned in a previous post, I'm trying to locate the source of a thumping/popping sound. I raised the track off the ground and and ran at various speeds. I absolutely have a thump....I can watch the hose guard flex in and out slightly....depending on the track, whether its decelerating or not. I'm trying to duplicate when exactly the thump happens, and what I can do to replicate it.
I am doing this BEFORE I switch the belt. My studs bases appear fine ect.
Question:
I noticed the secondary seems to have a lot more free play or travel on the shaft, than I can remember. The gap measures 1/8th inch, NOT factoring in the washers. See picture.
I am just learning to deal with the clutches, and I'm a far ways away from modifying clutches, like some of you guys! That said, I'm determined to learn and not depend on shop service.
At what point do I add washers, like I've read before, and I know Arctic Cat owners do?
(I have a '12 F800 snopro to deconstruct and play clutch games on...but I'm definitely not wanting to screw up my Apex!.....so thanks for any help, pointers, and links to aid my education!)
