How much horsepower is enough in a new sled? How much is enough and how much you would like are two different things. Generating horsepower cost money. Higher HP sleds cost more to insure. Dealers have told me it's harder to sell a used higher HP sled. Consider these factors and other you think of when voting.

You need a 'less than 100hp' option.

Personally I don't see a need to go any higher then they are now! A stock sidewinder will go 120mph. There are not many trails where you can even get going that fast so no need to go higher.
But lots of lakes and rivers! Turbo is a compromise. Too much to trust myself with and too easy to get power with.Personally I don't see a need to go any higher then they are now! Well after owning 2 that are over 265 hp I feel that there is never enough. Speed is not a direct result of hp. Speed is a result of gearing but having enough power to drive 700+ lbs of man and machine out of I tight Conner to lift the nose at a plowed drive approach, or a flick of the thumb to sweep the studded track through the Apex of a turn is a direct result of horse power and once you feel it you are never happy with a lesser class motor.
That’s why it shouldn’t be so easy.Well after owning 2 that are over 265 hp I feel that there is never enough. Speed is not a direct result of hp. Come on where is your sense of adventure? That’s why it shouldn’t be so easy.
You and Ulmer earned every bit of hp Yamadog. But now just look how easy it is with a Winder.Come on where is your sense of adventure?

Depends on how much the sled weighs. 150hp in a 400lb is alot different than 150hp in a 600+lb sled.
True but 150hp even in a 400lb sled will not give you a true 100mph if there is any amount of loose or wet snow.Depends on how much the sled weighs. 150hp in a 400lb is alot different than 150hp in a 600+lb sled.

Depends on how much experience and how comfortable the driver is on the sled.
Can't really pick just one.
