Hey Guys
One of the things I miss the most, is being able to open the hood and quickly dry out my goggles/gloves on the engine.
Right now I'm using a windshield bag which I like, the only problem is that it fills up the area behind the windshield. So I'm thinking about ditching the windshield bag and drilling some holes in the cowl to let the heat out and have a place to warm up my goggles/gloves on.
Does this http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/acces ... etail.aspx tank bag have about the same storage capicity as a Nytro windshield bag?
Also does this bag get in the way when riding?
I wear a backpack, so I don't need a huge amount of space, just something to take the place of a windshield bag.

I have the same tank bag, as well as the windshield bag. The tank bag holds considerably more than the windshield, maybe 2 or 3 times more. The tank bag is designed well and you hardly notice it while riding, usually you feel it when you stand up, but it's not obtrusive.
I've drilled some holes on the top dash cowl to allow heat to escape the engine area. Don't hand your helmet on the handlebars when stopped though, as all the heat steams up your visor.
Use a "stepped drill bit" for drilling holes, a lot cleaner and neater hole than a regular drill bit.

Install a Roest Vent Kit and you will get all kinds of heat in the dash its great for what you want to do and yes I also have the same tank bag and I love it.

The tank bag is huge compared to a windshield bag, and it's a great addition to the Nytro. I really can't imagine having the Nytro without one. I've used mine since the Nytro was new, and I'd honestly say it's the best accessory you could put on the sled.
X2 on the combination tank bag. I put a towel down in the bottom soften stuff bouncing in it though.

I take the towel and pack everything in tight so it cant move around. Keeps things tight, and my pop tarts stay in one piece. The mountain dew still is fizzy thobottlerocket said:X2 on the combination tank bag. I put a towel down in the bottom soften stuff bouncing in it though.

Thats not a bad idea, relocate the tools and misc items that I have stored in the nose bag, to the tank bag.
I'm always looking for ways to lighten the front end, not saving any total weight but moving it to the center of the sled should help!

I have a similar one just without the pockets on the sides. I could hold two led flashlights, working gloves, small tool kit, camera, gps, hand/foot warmers, hat, and water bottle, and could probably squeeze a little more in if i wanted to. Bag didn't get in the way and i am only about 5'8". I just packed it with the harder stuff near the top and softer things towards the bottom so that the bag didn't affect comfort while riding.

Nice, looks larger on the sled then it did in the catalog. I can see how it would be possible to fit quite a bit of stuff in there!
Any issues with clearance between the bag and how should I put this, "the sensitive area" of the body?!

I'm thinking I like this one. SMA-8GL83-DL-00
Hard to tell if it's really bigger or not from catalog.
Anyone have photos of this one installed?

I am 6'3" Mtnviper...Sitting on the sled there are no issues for me...My knees keep my "area" far enough away without even being close to touching it...I will be riding for the sled for the first time this weekend and will let you know how it works for me!
