2 weeks ago I seized a mag side rod bearing in my 02 SRX (bad crank seal), so rather than give up on the season, I pulled the trigger and brought home an Apex GT (low miles 2006) last Saturday. I have been wanting one since my TY ride in Munising last year.
I put on 250 miles in Paradise MI this weekend, and I must say it has been everything that was promised. But what really over delivered for me is the speed that this machine can develop in no time. My SRX is a ported 700 in a good state of tune, but it would be no match for this Apex. I have never hit 100 mph on the speedo so fast. I did not get a chance to top it out because of the rutted condition of some of the surfaces, but I hit 110 mutliple times between turns where the SRX would have struggled to do 90. I ran my buddy's 800 XCR a couple times from a dead stop and various roll ons, and pulled him like he was tied to a post. One time I left him so fast, he thought he stalled and stepped off the machine, and he was going 90!
All this, and I still got 50% better mpg than the SRX (15 vs 10).

Wait til you get in the bumps or technical sections, the power and throttle responce makes the ride. The triple yammies were the best 2 stroke ever for throttle response, but not as good as these motors.
For instance, ever try an 800 rev, yuck!, there throttle response is non responsive and heavy as hell.

Know what ya mean man, every guy i let try my 07'Attak on my last trip says he is going to buy a Yamaha for his next sled. Out on the lake I was pulling the skis from 65mph and I don't have studs. It was packed just right for optimum traction though. I have my transfer rod at about 3/4 of the way to max right now and my limiter is pulled up one hole and this thing was yanking the skis at 65 mph quite impressive. I absolutely love the motor. Gene

Try a speed run on each sled with a gps in hand for the same distance. The gap between the two will be much closer. Don't trust the speedos!
