Yep,

My first car when I was 17 years old was a 1969 Pontiac GTO 400 with a 4 speed. I tried to rebuild the motor and make it "faster" when I was a senior in high school.

Anyway, it was realllly fast when I got done rebuilding it. Unfrtunately, It only ran for about 60 miles before I threw a connecting rod through the oil pan....lol

That was the last engine I rebuilt until this Apex motor that I just did. My Apex motor has 600 miles so I guess I'mm getting better at it ;)!

You know what's sad, people from my generation will be telling their kids about how fast there Honda Civic was.

Stock turbo AC ??? LOL

I hope so. Does anyone think there might ever be a production Turbo from Yamaha?

No, I don't think so. Yamaha doesn't need the turbo to make power, if they want to, that is.

Yeah, That's pretty funny actually. Some of those guys can build a pretty mean Turbo Civic though. When I built that 1969 Goat, it was 19 years old. It seemed like a reallllly old car to me at the time. Now, and 87 mustang doesn't seem that old....lol

Mauri, No N2O but I high high comp pistons, hi perf cams, Headers, a big assed Holley 850 double pumper, and a "new fangled" invention called electronic ignition...lol

Wayne, so what broke on that goat? The wrist pin or old rod bolts?

Maybe that XP needs a turbo?

I would put my money on the rod bolts which could have been from failure of the rod bolts due to a defect in the material, improper tightening, or re-use of already used (stressed) bolts, which is not recommended.

I agree, pretty common learning curve mistake. Same with original valve springs, reused onto a high revving engine...
Clunk and smoke !!!!!

WOW!! - we went from racing XP's to building muscle car motors!!! LMAO!! - don't get me wrong, anything that you put gas in and has a throttle blows my hair back!!! ;)!

Yes we got off topic.

So what was the decision? Do I need to worry about the XP's?

Guy I work with has an 08 XP 800R, he is pissed cause max he can get is 104-105mph. My 07 Apex RTX and my buddies 06 Apex RTX usually lose out of the hole, but start catching him around 90mph and just keep on going. Would like to see how the 06 Apex RTX does now though with it extended to 136 and 1.5 lug.

I was thinking that I read in one of the snowmobile magazines that BRP had some sort of recall/bulletin that was suppose to be a fix for there lack of top end - anyone else see or hear that? :dunno:

yeah, I heard about the recall too. I heard it's the thing that you turn to adjust bellt deflection. My buddy had 2 go through his primary and seconday cluthes. He blew the belt both times and the stupid adjuster got stuck in the clutches both times. He was so pissed. I towed him home on the Apex and he dug out his 2005 renegade 600and rolled it ha ha it was a crazy day

No not again. I can remember those 2005 Machzs getting beat by the preproduction '06 Apex GT, uh it's hard to be the top dog or bee :-)

What's your point on that video?

What is all the talk about catching them around 90? If they get out on me on the holeshot, my Attak drives right around and away from them about 60 foot out. And it will be pulling away damn hard. I have not been the least bit impressed with the 800 XP or the 1000 Cat. Guess it depends on the tuneup in each sled and the amount of miles on your four-stroke. The fourstrokes are slugs before they are totally broke in.
