Got a seat, but it has the grey stripe. I want it to be all black. What have others used and how long does it last?

I used SEM prep and paint. Bought it at auto value, they had to order it. Worked great. I redo it every year cuz it wears a little where you are moving, sliding, and hanging off the seat. It doesn't crack or peel, just wears. Take the time and do it right though, in a clean warm place. I did the same to cover the gray color. I'll see if I can find a pic.

See if this works.

Did you have to paint the whole seat? I would think matching the finish might be a bit difficult.

No, just the gray parts. It matched well. If you didn't know I painted it you wouldn't know the difference. I can't remember if I used a matte or flat finish. But Ido have to do it again so when I go get more ill see. But the nytro seat material maybe different than yours. But I'm not the only one who has done this with great results, maybe someone else will chime in.

I have some other pics of when iwas painting it, during coats and the final product. Just have to find them. They may be on photobucket. I'll let you know if I find them.

Member named MUSKIE is the one I talked to before I did mine. PM him maybe he has more info or pictures too, I think he had an Apex.

I did mine a couple of years ago after reading about it on here. I was REALLY nervous about screwing up my seat which was/is in mint shape. I bought the stuff at NAPA and went for it. I followed the directions on the can and I think that it turned out great. After two full seasons on it, it looks the same as day one. The only thing that I did that would differ from you doing it now is that I was able to leave it out in the sun to warm up before applying the dye. I also left it in the sun to dry between coats, I used to thin coats. The main thing, like painting, is the prep work. Clean the area good, I used isopropyl alcohol, tape off the area around the gray stripe and apply the dye.

HRD2PLZ what did you do with your windshield and those graphics. whered you order them from?
It's a Yamaha windshield I bought 2 years ago but I can't find it on the Yamaha website anymore. The graphics kit is from AMRracing.

Not sure if its still this way but, when I got mine I went in eBay and AMR has a store under the name Gear Junkies, the have a buy it now option or "name your price". I put in $225 and immediately got an email confirmation that my offer was accepted. I called them and told them what color I wanted and that was it. Saved a few bucks.
