What about the dreaded rotating weight? I'll bet this will slow you down more than using steel backers, which most people would not do for that reason. As for hyfax wear, the main problem is to understand that after the hyfax wears to a certain point, it stops.

You would think you would loose top end but a picked up a little I think this because it rolls so much easyer without the rubber grabing the hy fax., the clips weigh less that a slp wear saver. The problem is your putting in twice as many clips as savers so that brings the weight up 1.5 Lbs, but for me it is well worth it. Some guys just cut out the windows that way you dont add any weight, but I thought this would be best.apex yooper said:What about the dreaded rotating weight? I've been meaning to add this.....I dont favor the nut/bolt deal cuz what if you hit something hard just right and your bolt head (rounded or not) splits the hifax?
Dont laugh I seen it happen. Friend split his hyfax hitting a rock/small stump just right. I just wouldnt want to take the chance..but thats me. I'm gonna cut mine out and see hwo it is. I'd clip it right away but dont have a source for a clip tool.
What about running the tracks looser?? If you dont have studs, loosen it till it ratchets, then tighten it up a bit. Little harder when you have studs but that's another thing I'm gonna do. Polaris wanted us to keep our tracks tight very similar to Yami's spec. Found out tha one didn't have to run it much looser to gain significant miles in hyfax wear.
All these things I wanna do to my sled....so little time!!!

The anti-wear pads are a whole lot easier. Got 900 miles on my SLP Anti-wear Pads and the verdict is ---------- they frickin work - SWEEEET. Have an 05 RS Venture and after 900 miles have only lost 1.5 mm of hyfax. Last year on 3 different sets of hyfaxes I had lost over 5mm of hyfax at 900 miles. I know, I know that I've made posts telling everyone to be patient, that the slides start to last a long time after 5mm BUT WHO HAS THE PATIENCE - GET the anti-wear pads boys and get some peice of mind.
This only proves that Comoplast or Yamaha is at fault in the design of Ripsaw track. Who do I send the bill to?
3 sets of hyfaxes - $90
Labor to install - $90
Anti-wear pads - $27
Labor to install - $50
Wear and tear on the brain - $50,000

Where do you get the anti-wear pads from? Anybody have any pics of what they look like on the sled?
