I added this on the Apex forum because there may be some ex-RX-1 owners.
I blew my track on my RX-1 and trying to remove my chaincase to take out driveshaft. I took out all the bolts that hold the chaincase cover on and removed all the necessary bushing stuff, brake disc etc. I can get the cover off about an inch and then it is stuck. Then the small gears fell out of place in the housing and the cover won't go in or out.
How do I take the cover off? It seems like it is stuck on the jack shaft. Maybe the reverse is causing something to be stuck? Am I missing something here?
Any help would be appreciated.

if there's nothing stopping the cover on the shaft then check and see if your reverse arm is catching the gear (if you have reverse) and if all is good then just wiggle it and use some force

The reverse fork is catching by the looks of it. I can't get it to move. I can't push the case back in because one of the small gears fell out and is jammed in there.
Time to get the sledge hammer?

Did you disconnect the reverse linkage?

Yes, the reverse linkage is disconnected. I can see the forks connected to the gear when looking into the case through the gap.

you have to remove the cover and take out everything in there then remove the case.

There is a nut holding the top gear on. Remove the cover first to get to all the parts. The bolt in the center of the bottom gear also needs to be removed.

Was it in reverse when you took the linkage off?
Should not be a prob to get the cover off even if it was though.
I'm not sure about my rtx but on my poos I'm pretty sure there is a bolt that you have to take out that goes through the cover into the boss that holds the bottom gear.
Maybe you can pull up a exploded view of the chain case.

No way around it..gotta get the reverse forks dislodged from the gear to get the cover off. It is usually not that bad to do as you just lift up on the disconnected linkage as you pull the cover off toward you.
You may have to get in there with something to knock the mid-gears out of the way (maybe get them to stand upright in the bottom of the case?) so you can slide the cover back on a little so you get the reverse forks to slide up out of the gear.
I def think it will be a finesse thing versus trying to muscle it off.

Heading into the garage now. Just got home from work and it has been on my mind all day.

Make sure you disconnect the linkage at the bottom, not just the top part.... it should just slide off then...

I never disconnect mine at the bottom and never have any issues. I undo at the top by reverse lever and at the mid/pivot point, leaving the bottom attached. Then I use the attached linkages to pull up on the reverse forks as I slide the cover off. Must have removed mine and others a good 20 times with no issues.

Yep, I have removed my chaincase before with no issues...until now. I went to yank on the cover and the fork was still hooked on and the little gear with the spring fell down and seized everything. I had to use a large screw driver to pound the little gear out of it's place. Once that happened, I couldn't get the cover back on close enough to allow the linkage to move. After playing around with it and using "finesse" instead of force....it came off!
Last night I was ready to light it on fire and walk away.
Thanks for your input guys!
