that looks like chaincase cover removal is a nightmare. Is it really that hard to do ?. I was going to take it off my 05 RX-1 but I dont know where to start.
Is there some place or someone that could give me details on removal ?.
I have removed the cover on all my POLARIS and YAMAHA but I never seen one like this...Thanks...

i think that JR's problems are an isolated incident, I hope that he posts what the problem was and how he solved it.
I had no problems removing the case on my rx-1m with reverse. check the tech section under "replacing your track" for instructions, download all of the microfische exploded views, and take photos of each step as you diassemble to help you remember parts order.

It's very easy! Remove the brake rotor and it's all right there. Plain and simple. Just do it!

chaincase cover
d'ont forget the small 10mm bolt on the cover it ties in to a small shaft for idler.
Also - there's a spacer on the top (driving shaft) with a locking hex screw - loosen that screw a bit and remove spacer.
Now give er a try!

It's not to bad
Take your time and layout the parts in order as you remove
Be sure to adjust the Reverse Linkage if you have one when you reassemble otherwise it's this:

Yes, I had an isolated problem. The bearing was shot. Must have went out during my last ride causing the inner ring of the bearing to weld itself to the shaft. Luckily I was able to get it off. I took the chaincase of several times last year w/o any problems.
If you follow the steps outlined in the below thread you will be fine.
