My left handwarmer was not working on a used phazer I bought last year. The handgrip also was not tight and rotated around a bit.
The right handwarmer works fine. I pulled off the left grip since it was loose anyway and the handwarmer is destroyed and there is also a bunch of tape in there so I ordered the stock replacement from yamaha along with the rivets.
I am wondering what the best method is to replace this wandwarmer. Does it get stuck right to the metal with just its own adhesive backing?
Should it be taped down? With electrical tape? Or high temperature foil tape?
When I reinstall the grip how do I ensure it goes on tight? Any adhesive or do I just re-rivet it? It seems like relying on the rivets alone would still allow it to rotate in between the rivets and hence damage the heater again.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve.

You'll see when you get the new one, it will have the adhesive in the kit. Just pay attention to how the old element is place on the bar before you remove it.

all the oem hand warrmer's ive installed are self adheisive. take a utitlity knife or somthing and scrape as much of the old foam stuff off. take some emery cloth or course sandpaper n get rid of all the old foam stuff. take off the plastic on the new grip warmer, line up the rivet holes and put it on. you only get one try lol. apply some grip glue, it acts like a lube to slide on easier, then cures once its on. put rivets in and your done. and no, you dont have to tape the new element down, its own adheisive is all thats needed.

Thanks. yeah the new one appears to be self adhesive. Hope it works in the cold. I'll have to get some grip glue as I dont have that. I have seen others recommending gorrilla glue or aqua net hairspray if I cant find that at my local dealer.
