does anyone have a picture of exactly were to measure when you set your float levels? mine are suposedly set to 14.5 mils and i just changed pilots and they seem like you have to push them up a long way to close off the needle to the seat.

you know what they say a picture is worth a thousand words!

turn your carbs upsidedown and measure from the flat face where your float bowl seals to the top of your floats without pushing down on your floats. I have a photocopy from the service manual in the shop I will post it on Wed. if you dont get one by then

from the tech pages...

I'm pretty sure that picture that Monker put up is for a two stroke carb not the cv carb that we use, Ken.

I just looked through the tech section and realized that there are no pictures or info on setting the floats on rx1 cv carbs. There is a tech article on setting the needles with pics but nothing for the floats. The ones they show are for tm and vm carbs, totally different., Ken.

I measured mine from the very top most part of the float. I set mine at 17-17.4mm. It runs great! Some say this is not good but I am here to say it rocks! I have had 4 trouble free rides with absolutely no hiccups in every kind of condition.

Did you add that tube on the pilot? Mine does not have that or that white deal around the main?

What year is your sled?

Thank you Skydog

my bad on the picture guys. i knew they weren't the same, but it gives you an idea of what you have to do.

thanks fellas! mine ar at 14.5 you think i should put them to 16 or 17 ? i ride pretty much strickly in the mountains.

That is good leave it alone, also keep in mind that 16 or 17 is a lower float setting and you can run out of fuel in the bowl.

When you set the float hieght on CV carbs, do not turn the carbs upside down. That will press to hard on the needle and give an innacurate hieght. Start with the carbs at a 90 deg. angle, and slowly turn the carbs upside down untill the float tab comes in contact with the needle and the needle is pushed into the seat without compressing the little spring laoded tit on the needle. The carbs will be rolled about 135 deg. or so. Messure height from bowl gasket surface to highest point of float. Turning the carbs all the way upside down compresses the spring loaded tit on the needle to far.
