I have a 2005 grizzly with 26inch mud lights and itp c5 series rims on it and my buddy has an 06 grizzly with stock rims and tires he is getting 67mph down the road on his and mine is lucky to see 62mph down hill on the road. we have never put them side by side to see how much real difference there is between them but I was just wondering if that sounds like an average speed loss for bigger heavier tires. Thanks!!

I lost even more speed with 1" wider, heavier rims and tire slime so that sounds about right.
I'm about 57 mph on the dreamometer with both of my machines now where they were around 65 mph with the stockers. My 26" tires with the wide rims are the same height as the stockers so it's not speedo error.

My wife and I were just talking about that today. I had a nice 01 banshee with over $10,000 invested and she had a heavily modded blaster. We used to love to ride at the dunes and all over back when we were just dateing and had no kids. now we are married with 2 kids and I cant believe I found myself on a grizzly with a big seat on the back and here on with me. Its amazing how things change.
yep-i had a blast going to the dunes-but its a pretty spendy trip nowadays with gas prices.i had a turbo v-w rail, then my 03' L.E.banshee(just pipes and aircleaners).only rode the shee in the dunes so it never got ridden .sold it on ebay and bought the grizzly.i also have a 400ex.

I also had a 01 shee with pipes and jetting/air box mods. I got tired of messing with rejetting it and bought a raptor. When we quit traveling to the dunes I just looked at what I spent the most time riding and it was my 00griz. I sold the raptor and traded the old griz in on a new griz and love it. My wife also sold her warrior and bought a new kodiak last month. It is nice to be comfortable and dry where we ride most of the time.
Back to the original topic I really didn't notice much of a speed change with the 27in tires I put on the machine. I know that my speedo is a little off but the pipe and jetting kept the performance close to stock.

I absolutely loved my banshee but 80% of the riding in my area is trails/woods/mud. The dunes are kinda small and most people around here ride 4x4 quads. I love the grizzly its just as much fun but different. I got sick of riding my banshee with all my buddies on their 4x4's and when we got to a place I was covered from head to tow in mud and they had hardly any on them. I didnt even want to walk into a bar. Well anyway, I was thinking that maybe my speedo might be off a little since the 26inch tires are one inch taller than the stockers. Its not lacking in performance It just dosnt see the numbers on the speedo that my buddies grizz with the stockers sees.

i wonder how off the numbers on the speedometer is. because when i first bought it it would run 74 mph after break in. but after a year still stock it would only run 67 and start to sputter . and now i have 26 in outlaw mst's it'll run 64 mph. but i drove with a polaris when mine said 50 mph the polaris said 59... THat is a BIG difference. and how can i gain my speed back??? without have to run over my wallet.

Yammy speedos are always off, usually about 7 to 10 mph they show faster than what you are actually going, sleds,bikes,4 wheelers all of them. They try to make you think theyre faster than they really are.

That sucks. I wish they would make the speedos atleast close. I could see a mph or two but 7-9 thats way too much
