Installed a full hurricane kit on 2008 nytro with just top air box mod rpm’s were almost spot on. I felt it had more to it, as riding with a stock nytro didn't seem to pull any better along with eating fuel. Called hurricane they said I need to give it more air so I did the bottom air box hole as per Dave. Now with the extra air I've lost 500 rpm. Would like it to run right. Any ideas would be great. As Dave at Huricane seems unavailable.
Thanks in advance

It definitely eats fuel, moderate not full throttle trail riding gives me 150km, lucky I have the trail tank, I’m in gaspe Quebec this week and barely made it to the gas station yesterday, I only ride in Northern Ontario/Quebec so the kit is coming off.

I don’t know how guys say it doesn’t affect fuel mileage much

something dosent seem right. I too just installed the full hurricane hindle kit on my 2013. i have only ridden it twice but i dont burn extra fuel. i still put in less gas than my brother everytime at gas station. he rides a 2013 apex xtx. mine sounds awesome and pulls alot harder now, i havent raced my brother yet to see improvements tho. i would keep trying dave. he always answered my calls or called back when i had questions. him and i had a rough start when he shipped me a dented muffler but he sent another one and was still helpful, tho he did make me pay for shipping back to him, which i was not happy with.

What engine RPM are you running and what RPM are you yourself trying to get? The kit is to run 9200 RPM. I have the original test mule for the kit Dave offers and best horsepower gains where at 9200. Best hard pack trail riding without being hard on the throttle was 103 miles and that was with the light on for quite a long time. On the weekend normal riding with very loose snow conditions sucked it back down to 82 miles. Glad I have a LINQ tank on mine for extra juice and a trail tank ready for next season.

Talked to Dave. He said kit was never designed for the star 128" track and to boot I put a 1.6 ice cobra under it too. Dave said that is a little too much to compensate for. So now I'm looking into dropping a tooth to 20. Any feed back would be good. Track and kit not coming out.

Running about 8500- 8900 depending on when you slam the love flipper. Really varies. Looking for 9100 running 91 octane seemed to pull the rpm down. Could have been conditions. Ran 87 seemed better. I may be crazy though. Lol

When on the dyno, Dave said he saw no horse power gains running the higher octane, said to stay with the 87. Ya get your RPM up and you'll really notice a difference in performance!

Going to change gearing. Going to try a 20 tooth top to help bring rpm's up

Ive run my Hurr Hindle Kit for about 1500 miles so far. 09 xtx w 1.75 BC and Trail Tank. I have the Star Kit...and am 6.3" 260 lbs no gear. Lim strap to 2nd notch and full skid and front shocks revalved for my weight. Here's what Ive noticed..

More pull down low to mid range. Enough to make me happy...yes

Waay more popping sound of motor when hard on accel...but none when gradually opening throttle to full speed.

Im geared 19 on top so could see more top end by changing gearing..but I like the low end torque.

About the same fuel mileage...maybe a bit less than before. (I have the TT)

Top speed for me...95 mph. Thats fast enough for my going. Rarely do that anyway.

Ear plugs are a must now...even w the reducer. That said, I prob could have used the ear plugs before for wind noise but really notice the loudness now with this system and opened airbox.

Overall...like the added boost of mid range. It reaches speed faster now...but I dont find or see any overall top speed change. Butlike I said...im not a small 160 pounder...and Im spinning a big track. Would I do it again? No
