Hurricane performance nytro package

I went with the Hurricane package except the clutch kit. I spoke to Dave at Hurricane and his clutch set up is not for MTX. So, I spoke with Allen Ulmer and he had a MTX set up ready to go. I installed the kit and it was bang on. In reference to hesitation or flats spots...yes they all have them apparently. Mine has it, but there is no hesitation or flat spot that I can "feel". I can only hear the odd pop, but it doesn't affect my acceleration at all. Autotune is supposed to take care of that, but I have spoken with others and it still pops here and there. I don't even notice it.
So the pop you hear is during acceleration? How much more did the mod give you on your top end?

I bought the hurricane kit and clutch kit this year. There is a big difference over stock. Mine is a 2013 xtx 1.75 and I can slowly pull away from friends 2014 800 etec BC 1.75.

Yes on acceleration, but not all the time. Again, I don't even notice it anymore. To me it sounds like it is part of the package because of the growl of the exhaust that comes with it. I could hit 140kms stock and now I hit 158-9 km/hr. Speedo of course ( while pulling a 2.25" lug x 153 track).

that's impressive for all that track!

That's on super hard pack on the lake. I can't seem to break 160. Oh well, time for turbo (if I win the lottery).

Save your money put turbo or supercharger in it best bang for your buck. Get them for a good price on ebay.

Mine does the same thing. I notice mine sometimes when I'm playing in the woops where I want to pop up and over some drifts. Got use to it really quick and don't really notice it anymore. If a bit slower on the throttle when playing around it's not even an issue. Small issue for big gains in my opinion.

My MTX does the same. More like a spit at 1/4 throttle or below and only when rolling on the throttle fast, but it's not a delay and I don't care as it has no effect on real performance..

I went with Ulmer's setup because its an MTX and it's awesome. I know it adds HP on top, but what is more impressive is what it does to mid range. Mine explodes relative to a stock mtx when you punch it. I thought about going turbo, but didn't want the weight, and glad I didn't. At 565 RTR, my Nytro is slightly lighter than my Summit and can easily stay and/or out climb it. It has much to do with how well the modded engine works.

BTW, I did try changing the PC5 map to get rid of the pop, but couldn't. I think it has something to do with the ECU and it's inability to react to a freer breathing engine in certain part throttle positions.

Took a close look at mine today, seems to be at the 5900 to 6100 RPM. If riding about there you hear it but don't feel anything, if below or above that range, nothing is heard.

If I remember correctly, there is a lean spot at that rpm....when mine was being dynoed we added a lot of fuel in around there, but I'm using he RB3 and we tuned it away....I'm the only guy using the RB3 with this kit that I know of and have zero stutters in my map. The kit was designed on my sled and Dave did a hell of a job fine tuning the power. The kit flat out works!

Talked to Dave on the issue, and he said ALL Nytro's have this issue with a tuned exhaust. He said it is in the Engine ECU right from Yamaha and they put it in there for EPA emissions, it's just the way it is. Again, rode it today in that "babble" RPM and it was heard, but never once felt it in performance.

I laughed yesterday. Was driving with two buddy's. One on a bone stock '09 XTX and the other on a basically stock '12 MTX that has some kinda quiet aftermarket muffler on it. On the MTX you can feel the exact same bobble only much subdued compared to mine...and if you listen carefully to the totally stock XTX, its there too only if you weren't listening for it, you'd never notice.

5900 - 6200 rpm and rolling on a pull from 20 -25% throttle seems to be the trigger.

Funny the Viper doesn't have it....but then again you can't hot start them either...LOL
