I'm new with the Apex. Just bought a couple weeks ago. How bad is the hyfax wear? I have two SRX's and had to put bigger idlers on plus the extra one in front of those. Do I have to do the same with this?

The apex doesnt have the same problem as the srx did..
They dont wear at the front of the rails..
they wear towards the back wheels
i added the SLP anti wear pads and eliminated the wear..
The ripsaw has the every 3rd hole clipped and eats the hyfax when on hard pack

What are the SLP wear pads and where do I get them? Also I just got an 06 Vector GT. Does this have the same problem?

You will hear vastly different answers on this topic. I have 1,800 miles and mine look pretty good still. On the other hand, I have seen others on this site who have gone through numerous sets of hyfax. I think its a track tension issue. I set my track tension so that it hangs down approx 3/4" - 1" with the sled elivated. Welteracer is correct that on this sled they wear just in front of the back wheels.

It really comes down to conditons.. if you ride in fluff all day.. you will get no wear.. if you ride in warm weather or hardpack they will wear like mad..
Get the slp wear pads..
you can get them from
Dennis kirk and other places

Mine are holding strong but look warn out.
The most wear happened when my inside idlers failed.
In I have changed the wheels....the wear has stopped.

I have 2400 miles on my Attack with the same hyfax. I think many people replace these when they see them get to 1/2 or 3/4 worn. I have always thought that most wear down to 3/4 gone pretty fast and then take forever to go beyond that.

Exactly.Sledders get nervous when they wear down to that point so quickly,& change slidders.Try adding miles--you may be surprised.accobra66 said:I have 2400 miles on my Attack with the same hyfax.
